Commercial Description:
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

12oz bottle. Pours orangish amber in color with very thin head, which does not last long. Aroma sweet, sour and of raspberry. Taste tart raspberrys and very sour all most to sour with dry finish.

Bright red with a pink head. Fluffy, champagne-like carbonation. Lightish yet solid body. Very zingy and tart. Some acidity and bile to give it depth. Quite a bit of sourness to boot. Raspberries were faint and in the background. Salty finish. Dynamic, refreshing and tasty.

Draft @ Max’s. Pours a bright, hazy raspberry color; very light pink head with solid, mixed-bubbled lacing. Loads of funk, tart citrus, and red fruits (cherries, raspberries) in the aroma; very solid funk and core fruitiness. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: sour cherries and raspberries; touch of pittiness and tannins and skins; tart citrus, basic funk, and a touch of soft malt sweetness mid-palate and towards the finish; lengthy end: citrus tartness, red fruits (some strawberries), and lasting cherries.

No head. Reddish color and hazy. Smell is tart, fruit is definete raspberry, and sour. Dry feel and easy to drink. Taste is sour, acidic, with just a touch of fruit. I like very much.

Red with small head. Lots of acidity as well as rasberry fruityness. Tart mouthfeel. Nice brew but impossible to drink to much of, I would like it to come in smaller bottles.

Just opening the bottle you can tell this thing is going be seriously sour and funky from the aroma. Pours a cloudy pink with a thin head. The beer seemed a little thin and bubbly. Incredibly sour, almost a little to much so. The raspberries don’t really stand out much. Was a bit of a miss for me.

I tried this beer on May 23, 2008 at "The Beer Bistro" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a cloudy pinkish red with a thin white head. The aroma was musty with some hints of raspberry. The mouthfeel was thin, and very champagny. The flavour was primarily sour raspberries, very dry, and delicious. Very expensive, yet worth it.
