Commercial Description:
Editor's Note: This is a special version of Saint Lamvinus that was bottled unblended (and uncarbonated) for Akkurat in Stockholm, Sweden. Only 200 bottles were made. There were no distinguishing marks on them. This is NOT available in the United States nor in Belgium, unless from Jean Van Roy himself. Some bottles are available in Denmark from certain Ratebeerians, otherwise only from Akkurat. Unless you specifically were told that you had unblended Lamvinus, and it was dead flat, you had regular Lamvinus.

Bottle, head-to-head RBESG 07. Reddish blonde, cloudy, no head. Completely flat. Nose is muted sharpness, grapey. Mouth is sharp vinous signature cantillon, quite rich and heavy, finishing in a lasting sharpness that just slips down with some amazing silk for the sharpness of the ale.

Bottle thanks to Jacob, shared with the rbesg07 crew in west brewpub. Aroma hits you with the red grapes before you get the cantillon sourness, which almost bothered me, but when the 2 mix together you realise this is an amaziong lambic. Taste is rich red grape skin almost slightly chalky on the palate before the lambic rubs the goodness over, completly flat and really excited me, like incredible mouthfeel. Tit blastingly good.

Bottle at the RBESG 07. Sourness, some fruit, but, frankly, this is too close to vinegar to me!

Akkurat bottle. Headless rather pretty ruby, pinkish pour. Funky, but mostly vinous nose where the oak barrels contribute a long way to the beer’s character: tannins, tight musty flavors. Rather jammy in its fruitiness, of course heavily grape-like, but also reminiscent of plum. The palate is as dry and sour as one may wish and if anything, I think the absence of carbonation might help in allowing that citric intensity and astringency pass by. Now to say that I prefer it to the regular Lamvinus, that would be going too far, especially that Lamvinus does not seem very stable to me while this is a single batch, but it’s certainly a good one.

Bottled. Reddish purple coloured with no head. Sourish and fruity with notes of grapes and earth. Very well balanced.

Bottled (0,75 l, bottle 2042, 2004 vintage). I had this one while tbone_ was resting at the red boat, still there was some left for him (and Ronny) and some other people that happened to sit by the table while I was alone. Okay, so off for the rating. Cherryish red colour, not much head. Aroma is sour grapes, almost red wineish. Flavour is super dry and supersour, and some pleasant hints of grapes. Also some wooden hints. Totally superb thing! But was quite hard to drink one bottle yourself... I guess that was what the bartender meant when he asked how many glasses and I said one "Congratulations" was the answer...

Thanks to Patrik and Timo. Hazy tomatocolor. Sour and fruity aroma, grapes, dryish and some oak. Sour fruity flavor, oaky, dry, grapefruit notes.
