Bottle at Falling Rock Tap House, GABF 2008. Pours ruby with an average, fizzy, white head, mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (hay, straw), light hops (flowers), average yeast (earth) with notes of grape, wine, berry flesh and green leaves. Light bodied, thin texture, average carbonation, and a sour finish. Average duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and sourness.

Tasting at mcbackus 10/19. Well again i fail to see the beauty Reddish/purple pour. Aroma of wine, wood and smells sour. And it is sour. Very sour. Some wood on the tongue and vinegar.

Pours out ruby pink with lots of bubbles. Smell is fruity, musty, and funky. Taste is fruity and tart. With notes of cherry and grape with the wood. Almost a wine like after taste. Great sour finish.

Pours a ruby color with a white head that dissolves leaving just a white bubbling ring around the edges. Even though this was aged in wine barrels I am getting a lot of cherry in the aroma... it almost reminds me of black cherry Kool-Aid, of course a little more sour and funky... a good amount of hay and barnyard aroma. Flavor is really well rounded... just perfect in the sourness, tastes more earthy than other lambics I’ve had recently. The wine really comes out in the flavor, very wine-like finish that lingers long after the mouth shock from the sourness fades. I really think this is one of my favorites... awesome. =)

750ml bottle with no date on it. Pours a beautiful rosy pink color that looks a bright red in the glass. A bubbly white head forms and actually has decent retention, certainly some of the best I’ve seen in the style. A thick circle of puffy white bubbles circles the glass and some swirls form patterns in the center. Aroma is bursting with Cantillon house character, strong as ever. Intense Gueuze-like aromas - cider and horse, intense barnyard, very musty. Some grape and cherry-like aromas are also noted as well as a flowery, perfume character. A lot of acidic notes are also found. A tannic oakiness is found at warmer temperatures though it is certainly not overwhelming or obvious. This is just a lovely, intensely funky nose. Flavor is fairly intense sourness that leads to a fruity, wine drenched finish. The tartness does not linger, it hits the tongue then transforms to fruit and the finish is dry and not at all sour. Very fruity with an assortment of berry flavors, acidity is low-to medium. Slight oakiness and wine-like in the taste as well. The flavor lacks a little something, I don’t know what, but the aroma is better than the taste. If this tasted as good as it smelled it would be one of the better examples in its style but it’s missing a bit of complexity in flavor or something. This is still nice though.

A murky beer with a rose colour. Aroma os fresh and with intense, dirty and musty notes. Otherwise the fruity notes from the grapes. The taste is very fruitful with heaps of grapes - the merlot really shows through! It ends sour and cleansing. Great beer!

330 ml bottle. Pours a beautiful ruby red color, much like a pinot noir aside from the off-white head. Sour fruity aroma. The taste follows the aroma, with some aromatics reminscent of white wine. Different and good.

Smells of two week old ribena... that’s been in the sun... rubbish. Might be 30% and capable of flooring you in a pint... i don’t care... beer should not be made of grapes... end of. - Emily (self confessed non-beer aficionado... sorry.)
