Bottle. Hazy and almost opaque, red color or almost orange, with some head. Lovely aroma of fruit, oak and a hint of the Merlot grapes. The grapes come out in the flavor, that combines both the typical sour lambic and red wine into a very refreshing beer. It’s definitely not something you just drink quickly, instead enjoy it quietly as the beautiful summer day passes by.

Bottle, 75 cl. Ruby read and cloudy with some pink bubbles. Cidery aroma with raspberries and bloodgrapefruit. Medium bodied and a bit spritzy. Not so extremely sour as some other Cantillon’s.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark rose-red color with a medium sized pink head. Aroma is funk, cherries, vineous, oak. Flavor is dark tart cherries, oak, grapes, barnyard, lemon. Palate is medium light, medium to high carbonaton, tart, dry finish. This is a really fantastic brew. Tons of tartness and refreshing acidic fruit flavors make this an excellent summer brew. That being said, it’s way too pricey for me, glad I got to try it, but won’t be doing it again any time soon. I think their whole line up is fantastic, so you can’t go wrong at any price point.

Light ruby body with a very short-lived head. Nose is woody and funky. Taste is dry, very dry. Supposedly aged with grapes in oak barrels, the barrels is a lot more predominant than the grapes. All kinds of dry woods on the tongue. The beer is indeed fruity but the flavour is not particularly focussed on grapes. More of a general “red” fruits flavour (grapes, cherries, berries, etc.). Some acidity but nowhere near the level of their Gueuze. In this case it is the woody dryness and not the acidity that makes it a sipper. I prefer their more standard and cheaper products but this is truly an excellent beer with its own personality. Its only problem is its stiff price tag. At only 5% it could be an everyday beer, but at $20/bottle… ouch! It’s not that I would mind being poor as long as it doesn’t prevent me from having a lot of money.

Aroma: wonderful, complex, rosen, perfume, malty, sourish, old, musty, rich, grapy, fine bath bombs, cherry sweetness, tulips.
Appearance: really dark cherry red with quickly fading pink foam. Very nice. Opaque.
Flavour: initially soft, grape flavour. Sexy sourishness, vague sweetness, well balanced & very elegant. Vinous, lactic aftertaste.
Palate: powerful but incredibly soft and smooth. Frighteningly smooth. Distinct but nice carbonation.

Courtesy of Joebrew. The aroma has cherry, and lots of it. Considerable barnyard aroma. Flavor has lots of cherry and light oak. Raw grape flavor. Acidic and sour, but the cherry is still there. Bright, Burgundy color.
