acrdz (4297), Boulder, Colorado, USA May 30, 2005 The lady and I opened this bottle while sitting out by the pool in the evening sun on a summer day. I can’t say I’ve ever seen a more appealing beer: murky slightly dark yellow with a white glowing head, the first taste I can sense the white grapes, and the aroma has that house Cantillon scent... barnyard qualities, along with a stenchy wheat and grain that is unrivaled. Flavors towards the end are more robust wheat and burlap tones, with the muscat grapes evident only slightly, which to me is a bonus in that the fruit used in no way overpowers or dominates the base lambic. Couldn’t have asked for a better lambic to fit the mood.
Linus_Stick (1526), Moon Township, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 17, 2008 Another winner by Cantillon. Aroma was nice and fruity. Sour white grapes with a hint of funk and wet blanket. Pour was a nice sparkly and bubbly light gold with a 2 finger white head. Looked like champagne. Taste was nice and tart in the front, with the sweet grapes just barely coming through. Medium acidity and little funk. Delicious and refreshing sour beer. wilkie (1091), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Aug 13, 2008 Bottle, shared at the Shenandoah Beer Throwdown. Pale yellow appearance, hazy, fizzy white head. Sour sweet grape in aroma. Flavor is champagne, sour, very tangy. Dedollewaitor (2041), Odense, Denmark Aug 11, 2008 37,5cl bottle @ VinensVerden, Odense. Pours muddy orange with no head or lacings. Tart, funky, vinegar, earthy, fruity nose & taste with grapes dominating. Fresh & very dry end! Low carbonation! joey_capps (1464), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Aug 9, 2008 Pours a cloudy yellow-amber w/ carbonated burst of white foam that settles quickly. Some sediment. Soft, rounded, musty, vinous aroma of tannins, grapes, lemony citrus, & oak w/ notes of honey & caramel. Feel is light, astringent, & carbonated. Flavour sour & dry w/ a lingering tartness. Blom (647), Odense, Denmark Jul 30, 2008 Orange with no head - looks like orange soda. Aroma of grape and wood. Acid flavours - grape and lemon and some kind of nutty flavour too. The grapes are there in the background, like a whit wine protruding. But as always it’s pretty extreme from Cantillon - and my stomach already burns... ouch!
