Tap at barcade. Pours a deep dark amber- almsot brown with a slihgt haze and a diminishing foamy head. Aroma is lots of phenolics slight medicinal and almost band aid- almost hints of smoke, fruity light banana and a charred earthy caramel nutty chocolate malt as well. Toffee, caramel charred burnt black chocolate malts, phenolic light plastic and more harsh medicinal- with a spicy slick wheat finish.

Deep red in appearance with minimal head. However, this is being drunk after sitting in a growler from the brewery for 5 days, so naturally some of its carbonation has been lost. Caramel, coffee, and clove flavors are present. Perhaps some banana as well. It’s very sweet, a minor drawback. Full bodied however and there’s a nice citrus aftertaste.

Tap at Barcade’s 4th Anniversary Party: Pours a murky brown with a fading light tan head. The aroma is sweet of caramel, overripe banana and a touch of clove. Has relatively mild carbonation for the style. The flavor is sweet- reminiscent of honey banana desserts served at Thai restaurants. There’s also a toasted touch of brown sugar and a very subtle clove note towards the finish. A bit on the sweet side, with little yeast spiciness/complexity to speak of.

Tap at Barcade. Deep brown beer, cloudy with a thick white head. Aroma is softly sweet with a strong malty sweetness. Some very strong banana sweetness along with the requisite cloviness. There is a kiss of light smokiness underneath the strong banana/clove character. There is a strong sweetness that makes the palate come across a little bit sticky and overly sweet. It’s an okay brew, but it’s not really a great one.
