bsp77 (191), Minnesota, USA Oct 29, 2009 Poured from bottle into Nonic Imperial Pint.
Slightly hazy reddish amber with very thin head.
Very mild malt smell, kind of English. Where is the hop smell?
Light English malts with nice hop presence that leaves a grapefruit bitter aftertaste that slowly builds. For an IPA, it really isn’t all that bitter - more balanced.
Low carbonation and relatively light body. Dry finish. Once again, very English.
Pleasant, easy drinking ale. Nothing stands out too much, but I like it and could easily enjoy another.
GoBlue (93), Falls Church, Virginia, USA Sep 7, 2009 Wow. Truly terrible. sharp aroma with little malt. Flavor was un-redeeming, harsh, earthy, dirt-like hop flavor that lingers unpleasantly. Malt was pretty much non existent and what was there was not good. Tasted like it was made from an old extract kit. I tried letting it warm up to see if more malt would come through, but ultimately just dumped it out. Cool label though. hayduke (1618), Eureka, California, USA Aug 11, 2009 From a 12 oz bottle purchased in Marblehead, MA this poured an amber-orange with a moderate head and good lacing. Nose of piney hops. Mouthfeel clean and smooth. Flavor is complex with lots of citrus and piney hops, with a long bitter finish. Very nice IPA. swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Aug 10, 2009 Bottle. Pours deep golden orange. Caramel malt & piney hop aroma. Taste is piney hops, lemon citrus, orange rind, hints of coconut. Hops seemed dumbed down possibly due to age. Lacking hop bite ChristianScheffel (4431), Odense, Denmark Jul 29, 2009 Amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of green hops, peach and pine, with a touch of caramel. Sweet hoppy flavour with a very bitter finish giving a slight hop burn. Wonderfully aggressive BREWMUSKCLES (1062), New Jersey, USA Jul 10, 2009 serviceable ipa strong and bright enough it is soda pop brown (and like) with a refreshing effervesence to it. citrus in evidence and nicely paired with a malt and barley character that mates well. touch of pine and stinky old cigar broomstraw light enough and just a bit sweet to entice. agillespie81 (190), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 10, 2009 Very deep copper color...thin, though fluffy head that laces well. Mellow floral aroma, with just a touch of sweetness. Noticeable hop character in the front...crisp mouthfeel. Back has a pretty bold hop bite. Subtle malt balance in the finish...mostly overpowered by an overly crisp palate though. This brew is obviously packed with flavor, yet is far to crisp for the tongue to pick up on most of it. gnoff (3559), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 6, 2009 Bottle at OT, Stockholm, on June 6, 2009 Clear copper color, creamy lasting tan head. Sweet, coca-cola, hoppy, malty sc ent, some cheese. Malty, wood, dry taste. Dry wood aftertaste. Medium to smooth to mousy mouthfeel. Dry medium bitterness.
