Commercial Description:
German Doppel Bock style of exceptional quality, flavors and body. The Navigator is CABC’s winter-seasonal offering. With a toasty biscuit flavor, it’s unlike any beer you’ve had while managing to stay strictly within style. Slightly sweet to offset the higher alcohol content, it’s a grand version of a classic German Doppel-Bock. This beer is a differing take on the average winter seasonal take and we think you’ll thank us for it.

This years Doppelbock style lager has no spices as it did last year but offers a spectacular mouthful of flavor. EXCEPTIONAL!! Ready Nov 1st

Pours deep copper toward brown with creamy, off-white head. Nose is caramel malt, toffee, hops, nuts. Tastes malty, with nuts, hops, slight spicy and peaty notes, and a rich smooth, complex palate. Give me this any time.

12 ounce bottle from Vintage Cellar in Blacksburg. Pours a clear dark red color with a thin head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, toffee and dark fruits. Taste is raisins, caramel, roasted malts and anise. Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. I like this quite a bit.

12oz bottle. Ruby brown-amber color with a respectable head. Sweet, fresh, and malty aroma. Sweet and smooth, a pretty well-executed Dopplebock, though it lacks some of the fruity/pungent yeast nuances found in some German examples. Creamy, with a balanced bitter edge. Really covers the alcohol well. Full flavored, but completely sessionable. Good stuff, way underrated.

Bottle from Once Upon a Vine - South on 02/21/2009. Clear deep cherry body with ruby highnights and a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet caramel and fruit aroma. Sweet caramel and light molassas flavor with some bready notes. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.

Pours a transparent copper amber with a thin, wispy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet doughy caramel malts and a touch of light fruit. Starts fairly full and sweet with some light carbonation and some mild bittering hop presence before a thinner, weaker finish. Could use more body and complexity, but still has good drinkability.
