Not much aroma was present from a muddy brown pour with a quickly diminishing head. Nice malty toasty flavor fairly well balanced. A little watery at the finish. Average at best.

Dec 23, 2009 12 oz bottle served in a clear pint glass. Pour was muddy brown with an inch of quickly dissipating tan head. Nose is yeast, malt, earth, and caramel. Taste is right on par, however there is an odd metallic taste that appears and lingers throughout the finish. I really enjoyed this brew and was pleasantly surprised. If not for the metallic finish, I would rated this higher and consider putting this on tap in my home. Excellent dopplebock!

Oct 8, 2009 Weak fig aroma. Brown pour, murky due to the abundance of fine floaties, no head. Balance is good, but flavor is not very intense. Malty wood and grass are detectable but not obvious. Pecan finish. Alcohol not noticeable. Weak doublebock, but a decent beer.

Aug 27, 2009 12oz bottle. Poured a deeper amberish/copperish color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, earthiness, nutty and some chocolate. Tastes of chocolate, caramel, lighter earthiness, and toffee.

Aug 20, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a one finger beigh head. Aroma of caramel, toffee and some earthyness. Flavor was moderately sweet with dark caramel, molasses, raisins and a bit of toffee with a smooth medium body and has a dry finish.

Aug 15, 2009 Bottle. Ruby brown with a tall, fluffy tan head. Aroma is caramel, cereal grains, spicy hops, and nuts. Taste is sweet malts, caramel, subtle nuttiness, earthy hops, light cocoa, and soft fruit. Body is light-medium and has a delicate carbonation. Leaves a pretty, spotty lacing on the glass as well. Ends with more caramel, sweet malts, earthy hops, light spicy hops and nuts. Not too bad. Sort of a sweeter American style nut brown ale.

Jul 2, 2009 12 oz. Clear deep red-brown with a small ring of bubbles. Aromas of chocolate, grain and caramel apple. Flavors are the same on the front, with some coffee, raisins, earthy spiciness and light smoke on the finish. Medium body is watery and finishes nicely dry.

May 6, 2009 Pours a deep coppery amber with a good-sized, persistent, light tan head.
Sweet nutty malt aroma.
Rich and malty, a touch of hop bitterness at the very end just when you thought there might be none at all.
Rich and smooth.Sweet & dangerous, the kind of Doppelbock that they speak of when they say "You can’t judge the strength of a good Doppelbock until you try and get up from the table."
