| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 31, 2008 12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass. Near black in colour with rust orange edges and a minimal tan head. Decent lacing is left. An appetizing nose is rich with pumpkin meat, roasted malt, cocoa, caramel and a lot of nutmeg. The flavor achieves a perfect blend of fall spices, pumpkin meat and roasted chocolate malt. It is sweet, roasty and chocolaty in the finish with great palate duration, coating tooth and gum. Suggestions of coffee, nutmeg and of course, pumpkin overwhelm my taste buds. The palate is just full enough not to be considered watery and the texture is silken. This is a harmonious combination of flavors that should be explored by many more breweries. Who ever thought a spicy pumpkin stout could work? AgentSteve (1376), SF Bay Area, California, USA

120z bottle from BOTW. Pours looks like Pepsi. Black bubbly pour with swirls of tight tan bubbles. The aroma is primarily the pumpkin part of this beer - at least at a distance. When I stick my nose right in the glass, I can start to smell the roast of the stout. Really interesting but it works.
Flavor is a really nice mix of the stout and the pumpkin - like they were meant to be together. I like it. TheBeerGod (3165), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 5, 2008 Bottle. Jet black pour with a small brown head. Nose is spicy pumpkin pie, cloves, and roasted malts. Maybe some gingerbread cookie as well. Taste is soft pumpkin, milder clove, roasted malts, light ginger, and dark chocolate. Rather tasty! Body is medium-full with a strong carbonation. Silky feel on the palate. The finish is slightly more bitter with stronger roasted malt notes, light coffee, pumpkin, gingerbread, and clove. The is pretty tasty all-around! theisti (1681), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 4, 2008 12 oz bottle courtesy of eaglefan538. Pour is black, with a nice one inch off white head. Aroma of pumpkin and spices - cloves primarily. Taste reveals much more of the stout, nice roasted maltiness, midway through it turns to the cloves and spices. Out of nowhere, dry cinnamon jumps out. Every sip was different and unique with this one. Odd beer, but interesting and enjoyable. Thanks Brian. Guerde (710), Welcome, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 29, 2008 (bottle, courtesy of beerbill) Pours dark brown/black with an off-white head that leaves nice lacing. This is quite an enigmatic beer. The aroma at first smells like a run of the mill overly roasted stout, with a lot of smoke, dark roasted coffee, and dry cocoa, but none of the pumpkin is detectable. With some warming, the pumpkin finally begins to show up, but it’s very faint. The taste is somewhat similar to the aroma in that it begins very roasty, with some dark chocolate, salt, and coffee coupled with a light bitterness. The roast is teetering towards being offensive, but this amazing baked pumpkin finish comes in and makes this beer very memorable. The finish just really impressed me, and there’s this unique interplay of flavors between the roast and pumpkin, which pairs quite well with the lowly carbonated, smooth mouthfeel. This would make for a great fall session beer, and it’s even more enjoyable coupled with some pumpkin pie. Thanks Bill!
