| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 17, 2008 Totally dark with a large tan head and good lacing. Pumpkin spices dominate the aroma followed by some roasted malts and molassas. Earthy, smokey flavor, not too complex, with the spices still in the forefront. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and well carbonated. A burnt (although not unpleasant) quality to the malts turns the lingering aftertaste a little more bitter. Off centered and enjoyable; would probably be great as a cask conditioned offering. adrian910ss (1424), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Oct 9, 2008 Pours a dark blackish-brown with a thin, short-lived head and a sweet licorice-allsort aroma. Tastes very spicy and smoky, not particularly roasty or thick, more porter-like than anything. Very spicy, lots of nutmeg, cinnamon, a bit of a peppery character, some molasses, touch of pulpy pumpkin but could just DMS. Thin body, not a lot of carb. This is definitely an interesting drink, I can understand the lack of roastiness to let the spices work through, but could use a touch more in the way of body/head. ilovedarkbeer (1365), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 7, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a moderate tan head that lasted until mid-glass and left partial lace. The pour looked a bit thin for a stout. Pleasant aroma of pumpkin, mild spice, and just a bit of roasted malt. The flavor is fairly muted with pumpkin, roasted malt and spice all present. Its as if the brewers had trouble deciding on whether to go full out on brewing a stout or a pumpkin beer, and went part way on each, resulting in something that is unfortunately a bit bland. As the beer warms, some smokiness emerges in the flavor, especially in the aftertaste. A bit thin bodied for a stout. A very interesting idea for a beer, and one that could really be a knock-out. This one just needs some more oomph. BMan1113VR (2884), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
