Commercial Description:
2007 New England Microbrew Champ and Silver Medal winner at the 2007 Great International Beer Festival! This very unique style is more stout than the usual "pumpkin pie" ales that are out there, with hints of real pumpkin & spice and a dark, coffee, stout flavor!

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of roasted and burnt malts, light pumpkin, tar, pipe tobacco, slight clove, and slight spices. Smells like a tobacco shop. Poured dark brown/ruby in color with a small, light brown head that diminished but lasted around the edges. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is lightly bitter. Tastes of burnt malts, a hint of pumpkin, and nothing else. Medium body. Slightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Burnt malt and hint of pumpkin finish. Ewww.

Bottle Pours a black with a thin tan head that leaves rather quickly. Lacing is pretty good. Aroma is good thick and chocolatly. Has hints roast and pumpkin pie. Has a good carbonationa nd a real nice mouthfeel. The flavor is hearty and deeper than most pumpkins. The stout really comes through. Has a medium body. The texture is thicker than most. Has a solid finish with a great aftertaste. This is a dynimite beerr for any season.

Bottle shared by bring on BA. Black in color with a tan head. Aroma is roast and pumpkin pie. Flavor is roasted malt, coffee, lots of pumpkin, and fall spices. A little thin on the palate, but tasty and well-done overall.

A lost rating from a tasting with Oakes and Beershine in March. Black pour, tan head. Flavor is very nice. Reminds me of a chocolate pumpkin pie I had at a restaurant once. Flavor is nice too. Some pumpkin, spices, espresso and chcolate.

12-oz. Pours jet black with a nice-looking, if momentary, creamy tan head. Moderate lacing. Roasty, chocolatey, pie-spice-like notes on the nose. Creamy medium body. Mild carb. The roast, chocolate, and pie spice come back for the mid-palate, falling into a nice cookie dough finish. Not bad. Kick-ass label.

Rather unusual but tasty. Very dark chocolate and roasted malt in the nose. Detected no squash there. Then the palate noticeably carried the pumpkin flavor. Along with chocolate, sweetness, coffee, grittiness. Dark beer with light dots of lacing. Interesting.

Small dark-beige head over jet-black beer. Liquorice & lavender, pine or spruce, but not hoppy. Slightly peppery aroma too, maybe. Sweet, smoked and very roasted. Jumble of spices throughout, but no way of telling what - except some cinnamon impression. Bit uneasy balance. Medium bodied, very slick, grist. Not bad, but I get the impression that the intended flavours don’t work optimally together. Big thnaks to DavidA!
