Liquorice & lavender, pine or spruce, but not hoppy. Slightly peppery aroma too, maybe. Sweet, smoked and very roasted. Jumble of spices throughout, but no way of telling what - except some cinnamon impression. Bit uneasy balance. Medium bodied, very slick, grist. Not bad, but I get the impression that the intended flavours don’t work optimally together. Big thnaks to DavidA! Beershine (2754), Traipsing Around, China
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 2, 2009 Bottle shared by Daknole. Opaque black with slim tan head. Interesting aroma is creamy with a subdued combination of cocoa, pumpkin, and cream. Thin mouthfeel is slick with low carbonation. The beer is thin with some mild cocoa powder flavors and all pumpkin is lost except for a slight vegetal flavor. Oakes (8172), Beyond the Great Firewall, China
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 2, 2009 Dark brown with no head. Some chocolate and pumpkin on the nose. Toasty-chocolatey taste with some late pumpkin. A bit watery, especially towards the finish. OSLO (829), Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 7, 2009 [Bottle] Pours dark brown with a small light brown head. Aroma is semi-sweet with a lot of pumpkin, a litle cinnamon and some nutmeg. Surprisingly little malt and/or hops show through. In the taste, it is a different story, though. Definite roasted malt balanced by just the right amount of hop bitternes. Not nearly as sweet as the aroma had suggested it would be. The transition to the pumpkin finish is seamless and the pumpkin is excellent. Good mouthfeel, quite smooth and has a long lingering finish of pumpkin. An outstanding, drinkable beer at a good price. Also, one of the better pumpkin beers that I have had. Nimrod979 (25), Hagerstown, Maryland, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 1, 2009 Pours BLACK with practically no head at all. Lots of carbonation in the body after the pour but that’s gone in a few seconds. Definitely pumpkin and nutmeg aromas. Initial taste is the pumpkin/spice flavor that fades away and reveals the true stout flavor which is quite good by all means. Caramel and roasty malts. Aftertaste is a little smokey and slightly bitter. Medium body, kind of oily texture. Not a bad beer. Not nearly as sweet as other pumpkin beers I’ve had. bubbleflubber (903), Collinsville, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 31, 2009 Pours black into the glass, with a deep brown thick head that leaves wonderful soapy lace. The nose is immediately greeted with fresh pumpkin, nutmeg and Allspice. Spices hit the mouth first, lots of Allspice, nutmeg and some cinnamon, as the pumpkin fills in the mid-palate. Dry pie spices and smoky notes finish the pull, closing the brew nicely. The mouthfeel is medium-dry, and complements the offering. Well done, and a nicely-integrated offering. badgerben (3610), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

Black color with a thin head. Aroma of raw pumpkin and nutmeg. Plenty more pumpkin flavor. Pumpkin pie spices, with alspice standing out. A very light hint of smoke. Pretty tasty! | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 28, 2009 (Sample Date: 11/10/2008 Source:Capital Ale House - Downtown) Sour, pepper and roasty aroma. Clear dark almost opaque. Small dark tan head. Almost a heffe/brett like yeast profile with some spiciness. Lots of vanilla with a dry brett like finish. Not sure the brett notes are intended but it works in okay with the beer.
