12 oz. bottle courtesy of Bockyhorsey - Pours a clear brown color with a one finger thick light tan head. Aroma is dark esters and toasted malt. Flavor is much of the same with the addition of some light chocolate. Medium body. Doesn’t come across like your typical BP. A little more fruity and less roasted malt than most others. Still, a decent beer. Thanks Bill.

Poured from the master himself, Kirby! At a recent Star Liqour beer tasting, Kirby was pouring some Capital brews for everyone. Pours a deep chocolate brown colour with a little tan head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, roasted malts and toast on the nose. Taste is pleasent and rich with dark fruits, black licorice and smoke. Awesome beer overall, with a pretty nice buzz.

12oz bottle courtesy of xmarcnolanx. Pours a deep clear reddish brown with a creamy one finger light tan head and not much lacing. Nose is sweet like a barleywine almost with caramel malts, cocoa and light coffee. Taste is oatmeal stout like in both mouth feel and taste. Flavors of roasted malt, some dark fruit, mild coffee with a touch of hops in the finish. Creamy mouth feel. It tastes good, but just seems like a beer that doesn’t know what it wants to be when it grows up. Thanks for sharing Marc!

Pours a thoroughly filtered shade of mahogany, and capped with a fulsome cream of tan. Fairly basic and boring aroma of silage, anise, graham crackers, and rock candy; it’s dirty and earthy, and quite sweet, but the compost heap suggestion is most prevalent, and very odd, like a sack of old grass that’s got a lot of stale spices peppered in. So it’s not pleasant, but its strangeness is something notable. Underneath, there’s a warmth of munich malts bringing raisins, and dried red fruits, and caramel, and this salvages it somewhat.

Crystalline sugars and candies define the flavor blandly. The coldness of lager -imparted fruitiness alongside the smooth heat of alcohol really paints it as a dopplebock, and there isn’t any chocolate or roast or any burnt qualities that might be expected. It is, though, a good, oily malt flavor, if one that doesn’t have the full range expected from this style that is most uniquely characterized by depth and versatility of flavor. Raisins, creamed cherries, and maybe a weak hint of dates.

Palate is a somewhat static medium-full texture; too clean, and too brisk. Filtration dumbs it down severely, I think. Finish is short and basic in doughiness and sweetness, that lingers with a bit of rough alcohol and astringent, metallic malt texture. A highly drinkable offering for the most part, but it’s stationed so firmly in the shallow end that it’s almost not even in the pool.

Pours a dark amber with a frothy beige head. Aroma is medium sweet caramel malt, lager yeast, molasses and smoke. Flavor is caramel, chocolate, nutty and nice earthiness. Finishes long and fruity. Medium to full body, smooth texture.

Talk about disappointment in a beer. Pours dark amber / bronze with a light tan head. Far too light of a color for the style. The aroma has musty caramel, bread, stale anise and sugary sweetness ~ once again, is this really how a baltic porter should be? Thin body with mild carbonation and a lot of wateriness. The flavor starts with dull caramel then the crap hits ~ cardboard, cheap chocolate and sourness - just foul. This has got to be the worst thing I’ve had from the brewery. Hopefully I get a bottle down the line and get to rerate better, but this was pretty painful.

12oz bottle, courtesy of Stine. Thanks, Eben! Pours a dark, clear cherry-wooden color; thin light-tan head with patchy lacing. One-dimensional caramel, candy sugar, and dried fruits in the aroma; slightly metallic. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: lots of dried red fruits, light caramel, and chewy candy sugar; relaxed carbonation; decent, drinkable presentation of chewy malts; a decent, malt-forward, slightly velvety and oily baltic porter; not bad but nothing special. Medium finish: dried red fruits, candy sugar, and lingering sweetness.
