Creamy palate is my favorite part of the beer. Flavor is hops up front, but with a mild finish. Seems over-hopped for a Helles, but I guess it’s "their take on it." Didn’t really get any sweet or malt. I like Capital and this is a decent beer -- but I prefer a truer Helles. holdenn (1443), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Pours a clear orange with a beige head. Nose and flavor are malty with carmel and biscuits. No bitterness or detection of hops. A little too sweet, but clean, crisp, decent. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 24, 2007 Picked up 12 oz bottle from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear dark golden yellow with a small off-white head that fades slowly and leaves thin lace in spots. Aroma has some toasted bread with sweet sugary malt, with a combo of grassy scemts and herbal spice. Taste has a medium body malt, lightly crisp and a dry finish. A smooth sweet finish to the palate. Pretty darn good! mattcoats (40), Norman, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 6, 2007 A great pouring beer, with rich foam, highlighted by toffee and caramel aromas and flavors. Very little hops, but deservingly, since this is a low hop beer. troyc (1175), Lubbock, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 22, 2007 (Bottle) Pours a dark golden color with a great looking head. Not much hoppiness here... it’s all about the balanced maltiness. Honey, wheat, and some mild caramel in here as well. This beer is really true to the style, and is better than some of the German versions I have had. AOF (282), Naperville, Illinois, USA

Aromas are hard to distinguish because of one simple reason, there aren’t any. Some very faint sweet malts on the nose but thats about it. The label advertises "nice hop character". Im biased, but this brews hopiness is allmost non-existant. Very thin in the mouth and being light bodied makes this one easy to drink but not much in terms of flavor. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 8, 2007 Golden color with a fluffy white head. Aroma is malty and sweet. More malty sweetness in the flavor. Full bodied. Finish is smooth and sweet with a short crisp hop ending. Very nice example of the style. BustedFlat (553), Edina, Minnesota, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Mar 5, 2007 Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass, golden with a medium white head. The aroma was very light with a hint of malt. The flavor was very thin and the mouthfeel watery with a touch of sweet malt. Good carbonation, but that’s about it. It’s like I went down to Dairy Queen and ordered a malted water. Mmmmm.
