keoki182 (305), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA Jan 20, 2008 Bavarian Lager gets some points for doing a difficult style (Dortmunder), but to me it’s pretty much average in every way. Light grassy aroma. light yellow appearance. Light grassy flavor. I didn’t notice much in the way of hops. Just not my cup of tea.
noncaloric (166), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Oct 30, 2008 Aroma is like rising sweet dough, comes out at me before I even pour. Pours a clear light amber, significant but rapidly fading white head leaves some spotty lace. Floral hops with just a little bite, some apple, malts far more subdued in the mouth than on the nose. Clean finish. Very light bodied but crisp on the palate. mcjay (122), Neenah, Wisconsin, USA Oct 29, 2008 Transparent golden/yellow color with a medium white head. Slightly sweet aroma with a mild hop bitterness and a light malty mouth feel. Kind of average. MatSciGuy (350), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Oct 18, 2008 [Bottle] Pours gold with a moderate whitish head. Aroma is sweet malt. Flavor is a touch of hop, lager yeast. Smooth and a little bitter. popephred (135), Plainfield, Illinois, USA Sep 3, 2008 Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Pour produced a hazy honey colored body with a small white head which diminished quickly. Light bodied with moderate sweetness and little else. Palate has some honey notes with a wisp of hops with little to no aftertaste. Not a beer to be enjoyed ice cold. This beer’s flavor and aroma improves as it warms. Throughout the tasting, I noticed that this lager goes down quite smoothly and does not offend in the least. Strykzone (1059), Wood River, Illinois, USA Aug 31, 2008 Honey gold color with a white soapy head. Very little visible carbonation. Malt dominated aroma with a hint of floral hop and some honey. Flavor is same as the aroma with a tad of spice. Light toffee. The hop provides just a bit of life to the feel that grows as the beer warms.
