mikeben (335), Naperville, Illinois, USA Apr 17, 2006 Updated: Jun 2, 2008Actually a fairly nice beer. If one wants a mild beer that has a nice German flavor this is good. Similer to Weihensthpaner or Hacker Pshore Munich if not as distinct. A good beer to break in new comers who previously drank Budweizer swill. Kevin (1765), Colorado, USA May 15, 2006 Dark yellow almost copper body with a bit of a white head. Nice aroma of honey, hay, and rosewater. Spicy earthy flavor with a nice sweet backbone with a tongue tickling carbonation and bitterness that is a bit floral and grass like. Dry finish with a bit of lingering toffee and honey with some more hay like flavor. If more lagers like this were around I would drink more lagers. Lucky Wisconsin bastards.

burcusabrews (106), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Sep 30, 2004 Big wheaty nose with some melon. Golden yellow with nice white head. Very nice clean pilsner flavor with some sweet aromatic honey on the finish. Real solid lager- One of the best of the style that I have tried. bbrock81 (193), Le Mars, Iowa, USA Nov 19, 2003 I found this to be a very pleasant, easy drinking beer. Maybe it isn't that exciting, but it's nice and malty, which I find very endearing. It looks nice: clear and light, and smells good: malty and mild. The taste is nearly balanced, perhaps just a bit more malty than it ought to be, but if you like that then you'll like the beer, as I do. One of the better offerings of one of the best breweries in the Midwest. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Aug 21, 2003 Color is a clear dark golden yellow with a small off-white head that fades, leaves minimal lace in spots. Aroma is awesome, buttery toasted bread, straight up, like right out of the toaster and put a pad of butter on it, nice little malty sweetness on top with a blend of grassy notes and herbal spice. Those Munich malts did there thing in this nose. Also in the taste as well, malts worked there magic with more of the same things carrying over from the smell, smooth buttery feel, light to medium bodied with toasted bread all over the place with a incredibly nice little playing of sweetness and notes of herbs, flowers, and grasses floating on top and into a lightly crisp and dry finish. Heavenly smooth, and toast-a-rific! This was a very nice Capital brew to drink, so smooth and fulfillingly rich in the toasty malts. A great example of the style IMO.
