The aroma is bread, caramel and some fruit. The flavor is light caramel, bisuit, banana, pear and brown sugar. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a touch of bitterness in the finish. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 15, 2006 Pours a medium amber with a small white head. I did not detect much malts in the aroma but in the flavor it was there. Malty, sort of sweet, with a crisp finish. Pretty good beer. chimpscampee (556), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 31, 2006 suffersfrom malty-cloying blandness like many capital beers. A big step down from autumnal fire which is sweet but packs serious flavor. Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Aug 4, 2006 Bottle. Pours a clear lighter amber. Nose is sweetened malts. Flavor is quite sweet, light brown sugar with a high level of malts. Winter fruits also prevalent with an oh so little hint of bitterness in the finish. I founds this to be almost cloyingly sweet. Nice malt and fruit notes were suffocated by the syrupy body of this brew. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 20, 2006 From a 12 oz. twist cap brown bottle with no bottled/freshness date.
Poured an ever so slightly hazy orangy bronze with a nice foamy off-white head that settled into a thin sudsy lacing.
Aromas of sweet grainy malts, a touch of caramelization, a light fruitiness and spicy alcohol.
Moderate carbonation and a softly crisp, smooth lightish medium bodied mouthfeel.
Caramelized and grainy malts, the right amount of sweetness, a pleasant fruitiness, apples and pears, spicy hops mixing in with the warming alcohol, and a dryish spicy and fruity finish.
Another great doppelbock from Capital, one of my favorite American breweries.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 27, 2006 I looked forward to taste testing this 2006 World Beer Cup bronze medal winning dopplebock and it did not disappoint. It pours a beautiful golden amber color with small white head. Its aroma is a bit hoppy while the texture is soft and creamy. The taste is beautifully balanced, not bitter, medium bodied and nicely carbonated. The finish is crisp and leaves the palate refreshed and clean. A really Capital brew! | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 21, 2006 (12oz bottle) Large off-white head atop a crystal clear apple juice body. Aroma is moderately sweet, bread/caramel, grain, herbal/grassy, floral, apricot. Taste is moderately sweet, bread/caramel, herbal, candi sugar, light alcohol, banana, corn. Dryish alcohol finish. Medium-full body with some stickiness. Rather drinkable for style.
