Poured lovely bubbly amber-gold with a lasting average beige head. Bready light roast malt aroma, apricot and citrus fruitiness, and floral hops - I could smell the bread dough yeast from 2 feet away. Sweet malt and fruit taste to start, some fresh grain and very light hop bitterness in the finish - delivers on what the nose promised - very nice. Thickish mouthfeel for the style, light carbonation with a medium linger initially, with a longer noticeably alcoholic finish as it warms - no aftertaste, very refreshing, I’d have this again for sure. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 28, 2006 Beer pours a dark honey golden color with a big, mostly dissipating egg white colored head. Aroma is rather intriguing with big bread notes along some fruit aromas. Flavor is initially sweet, like sweet bread. The finish is dry. I had high expectations for this one and it didn’t quite measure up. JohnnyOS (646), Golden, Wisconsin, USA

Aroma of caramel malts, corn, and maybe some raisins. Dark fruits in the taste, also some bananas, a little alcohol, slightly bitter finish. Full bodied, fizzy carbonation. Pretty good. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 11, 2006 On tap at The Map Room. Medium copper in color with a small white head. Caramel malts up front that soon become overpowered by a cloying sweetness. OK, but a bit one dimensional. Ughsmash (3999), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 9, 2006 Bottled. Poured a clear, bright, medium golden with a short cap of dense white head. Nose was of toasty caramel and dark fruity malts, corn husk, and a faint hint of soap... overall rather weak for an 8% doppelbock. Flavor was deeper and richer with plenty of caramel, toffee, and cereal maltage.. plus a woodsy/leafy hop presence. Sweet malty become mildly cloying toward the back as this warmed.. smooth yet grainy across the middle. Alcohol provides power and warmth without getting in the way. Solid stuff overall. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

Hoppy and malty flavor. Thin bodied. Finish is bland. ok beer. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 6, 2006 Looks like a blonde doppelbock from Capital. Clear shiney copper; thin creamy off-white head. Aroma is like the Capital Maibock to me, but with slightly maltier perfume, and a touch more caramelly. Slight grain husk hints. Tannins? Light german perfumey hops. Actually… tastes like a richer Maibock too. But to me, the Maibock is fine by itself. Still good though.
