RAYBOY01 (1813), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 25, 2006 Very, very malty brew, with intense caramel malt sweetness, but not cloyingly so. Interesting heavy doppel-type sweetness but light golden color. I found this very easy to drink, despite it’s 8% ABV and I would defenitely classify this as a spring seasonal session-type beer. DrnkMcDermott (1831), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Mar 6, 2006 Sampler from bottle. Boy, why can’t I get hands on more Capital beers? Anyway, this is very light in color… as befits its name, I guess. Sugary and malty, kind of like french toast with syrup. Yet I like this one a lot. acertain (249), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 6, 2006 Bottle thanks to beervana. Yummy brew. I took this straight from the fridge, so I didn’t get much of an aroma. Hint of fruit, almost like a wheat beer. Look was cloudy amber with a thin white head. Flavor is sweet and rich. Not a traditional dark double bock, but definitely rich and full. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Feb 26, 2006 Updated: Mar 9, 2006Vintage 2000
This poured a light-hazed copper with a scummy film atop. Cooked cabbage and tomato over caramel in aroma, this didn’t seem to hold up in the 5+ years since brewing. Despite those adversities, there is still something intriguing about it, drawing me in. A very sweet start over a smooth caramel base, a doppel is the only category I can see this classed as, but due to it’s lightness of color it plays tricks on my mind and palate. A strong, light Bock... intriguing to say the least.

walleye (876), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Jan 12, 2006 got this in a trade and I cannot find my trading papers so thanks to the one that sent this. poured a golden with a small white head that didn’t last long. aroma sweet orange, malt, some alcohol. flavor got caramel, malts, the orange, a hint of honey with a slight amount of alcohol. not to bad. But I was a little surprised to see a dopplebock this light in color. kramer (2406), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 6, 2006 12 oz bottle, via Styles. Pours a hazy gold/light copper with a minimal white head that faded quickly. Caramel malt aroma with some graininess and light alcohol. Rather sweet flavor with caramel and toffee characteristics, long sweet finish with some alcohol warmth. Medium to full bodied, syrupy and sticky with moderate carbonation. Decent beer, but a little too sweet and cloying for me. Gets a little tiring on the palate by the end of the bottle. hopdog (5527), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 11, 2005 12oz bottle acquired in trade with Styles (thanks!). Poured a medium an clear golden color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of oranges, nectarines, caramel and very light spices. Tastes of the same. Lively body that was on the thin side. TomDecapolis (3128), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 10, 2005 Pours a translucent golden orange wtih a small white head. Aroma is sweet orange. Flavor is malty with some citrus. Overall aroma and flavor is hard to describe. But a decent beer overall.
