On tap at the brewery. My favorite sample of that session. More of a golden amber color, but I’m fine calling it a blonde. Smells of cloves and honey. Caramel, pine and pepper tasting. Subtle nodes of cedar and vanilla. Alcohol is no stranger in this brew. Fulfilling and complex. Damn good. Well done, Capital!

Here’s one for the malt lovers in the crowd! Golden-orange in color with a creamy white head, this has an aroma of toffee and butterscotch and flowers. Well-carbonated-but-creamy in the mouth, this has some amazing, sweet malt flavors. Blended in is a spicy "pepperishness" as well as some clean, bitter hopping. Nice malt and bitter finish. Good doppelbock.

This was my first doppelbock and I was not sure what to expect. I was quite pleased with this. A strong malt flavor and alcohol. Had a beautiful golden color. Nice overall impression. I will be sampling more doppel’s now thanks to this one. I would like to try Autumnal Fire for comparison, but it’s seasonal and you can’t get it where i’m at.

bottle from my neighbor. pours a slightly orange - golden yellow with a wonderful creamy head. a bit malty but not overpowering and the alcohol is very well hidden. my 4th bottle of this delicious brew, but first since I joined RB. this was the beer that introduced me to doppels and this one is still one of my favorites!

Bottle. Rich hazy orange-yellow brew with a golden head that thins to white and creamy. Faint malt aroma, smells like mash day at the brewery. Buttscotch and dicetyl and really rich. Not an everyday beer. Good attempt at balance with bittering hops, but no hops are evident in taste or aroma. Butter....beer..butter...beer, hmm, ymmmm

Amber colored. Powerful aroma of malt. It has that standard bock flavor of sweet malt, but also some bitter taste in the finish. Heavy. Very good.

Everyone seems to like the Autumnal Fire over this, but I found this one to be a better beer. Bright orange with decent head and much more carbonation than the Fire. Nose hints of alcohol, caramel and sweet sugars, hints of pear and apple. Rich and thick just like the Fire, but with a much livlier mouthfeel. Malts are dominant but unlike the fire, some hops sneak through the big fall brew and make it undeniably (for me, at least) a better beer than the fire!
