Out of the tap--pretty orange amber with a tan head that calms down slowly. Nice lacing. Huge initial maltiness. Very sweet. Alcohol taste is evident but not obtrusive. Creamy & smooth with lots of heft. After about 3/4 of the glass on an empty stomach, the buzz kicked in with a vengeance. Very nice overall.

Bottle pours a dark amber color with very little head and lace. The aroma is of malt and slightly sour. The flavor is malty, sweet, very restrained white grape and apple, and just very nice. The palate is big and thick. Overall, another fine Bock family effort from Capital.

Had this beer at the Brewery tour. Hum, maybe that's something Ratebeer.com could add - a rate the brewery tour section. Just a thought.

Copper/orange amber. Turbid carbonation, sweet malty nose, peppery alcohol. Small off white cap. Sweet, chewy malts, pears, white pepper, estery, slightly cloying, slightly lacking in character. Nothing spectacular here, but a fun rendition of a Doppel.

This brew pours with an orange amber body topped by a thin white head with little lacing left behind. The aroma is sweet and malty with notes of caramel/toffee and a touch of fruit. The flavor is sweet and fruity (apple?) with notes of caramel. The finish is rather crisp and clean. Medium bodied and smooth.

for 8 bucks a six pack, I drank it all summer. Big blondie. alcohol makes itself known best long after the first couple though. Warm, a bit spicy, malty and fruity. dark straw body, well carbonated. dry caramel, toasty grains and toffee. sweeter as it warms. well balanced and well hidden alcohol...at first

Light copper with a foamy, patchy head. A sparse, but consistant stream of tiny bubbles rises through the body. Large fruity aroma, with loads of malty pears, raisins, honey, candy sugar and bubblegum. Nice carbonation on the tongue and good flavours: caramel, sticky bitter honey, and some sweet malt. The nice fruit that was in the aroma has disappeared, but the full malt is very pleasant. Doesn't have the typical roasted and nutty flavours of a normal dopplebock, but is a good change of pace. . .

Pretty orange color with a medium, creamy off-white head. The aroma and flavor were very sweet...bubblegum, bread, apricot, and alcohol. Medium thick consistency...long wet finish.
