| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 11, 2008 Golden appearance. Small filmy head. Nice spicy aroma. Surprised by the sweetness. Really surprised when I saw the 8% ABV!! Never would have thought it although I definitely felt it a few minutes later. Just a bit too sweet for me. But I think this would be a favorite for a doppelbock fan. WallyWalrus (205), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 7, 2008 12oz bottle (and #150!). Pours a crystal clear amber with a thin off-white head and good effervescence. Aroma is light, with a strong malt backbone supported by grain, spice, and a slight bit of hops. Taste is creamy and sweet, with an initial flavor of honey and spices giving way to a long malty finish (and an oh-so-slight hint of warming alcohol). Another great brew from Capital -- what it lacks in complexity it makes up for in execution and sheer drinkability. Rciesla (3604), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours a light amber golden body with a thin off white head. Aroma is purely malt and a sweet scent. Flavor is sweet with a light spiciness, then malt all over. No real hops and a light warming from the etoh. cblado (147), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 31, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a light golden color with a thick yellowish head. Aroma is malty, with a bit of honey. Flavor is similar, somewhat yeasty as well. It’s notable that there is absolutely no hop flavor in this. The palate was light enough to make it very drinkable. Not a bad doppelbock. drewbeerme (2272), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 17, 2008 on tap. pours hazy golden with not much head. aroma ia sweet sugary, caramel. flavors are rather sweet, clean and straight forward. makes me think this is what a tripel would taste like with lager yeast. what’s the point of a blonde doppelbock without at least noticable noble hop presence. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 14, 2008 Bottle from Ryan. Pours out a yellowish - orange color with a nice white head on it. Smell is malty, fruity, has some alcohol in it. Smells alot like their other doppelbock, just not dark colored. Taste is smooth and rich, with no alcohol detected. Easy drinking and sweet. Paired pretty good with steak. I would drink it again, it seemingly disappeared... Petrucci914 (578), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 3, 2008 Pours a crisp golden color with a medium white head that fades quickly. Aroma is faint.........sweet malts, bread. Taste is malty, bread, honey......that’s about it. I’m not a fan of this style. Suttree (2708), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 28, 2008 Yellow, with a thin ring of foam. Bready, toasty, malty aroma. Nice rich malt profile, with a lot of bready, toasty flavors segueing into a crisp hop finish. Really tasty and satisfying.
