| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 21, 2008 Pours dark golden with a medium frothy off-white head. Despite the look, it still has a malty doppelbock aroma, also some candied malt in there too. Sweet candied pale malt, sugary apple/honey flavor. Lightly hopped. Chewy caramel with an alcohol finish, hot. Creamy and sticky body. Strange brew, very sweet. KAF (441), Coralville, Iowa, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 12, 2008 Pour is a hazy light orange with a white head. Aroma of sweet malt and some hops. Spices and malt in the flavor with a bit of sugariness. MatSciGuy (631), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Apr 8, 2008 Fresh batch, bottle from West Lakeview Liquors. Clear light amber with light fizzy head. Aroma is light yeast with noble hops, some citrus spice as well. Flavor is spicy hops, malt sweetness, some banana, lager yeast, caramel malt, citus, a little brassy. Medium body and creamy. Not the best beer in the world and a little strange, but surprisingly better than most their other brews. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 7, 2008 Tap at the Muddy Pig. Clear, bland orange appearance. Sugary aroma of creamy, lager like fruitiness, bubblegum, cotton candy, and golden raisins, sinking at times into a more vegetal sweetcorn and squash sweetness with bits of salt. Doughy, dirty malt flavor of brown sugar, dark honey, cherries, and bread. Sourdough, a bit of perfume, a lot of caramel and candy sugar. Palate is medium in body; weakly textured with underdone carbonation. Finishes sweet and highly alcoholic with a tint of vanilla and maple cookie. Unimpressive; these lighter colors of sweetness are just too weak. esjaygee (1519), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 3, 2008 Light amber with slowly diminishing white head that laces well. Apples, caramel, bread, spice, cinnamon. Malty sweet, bready and smooth. Alcohol a little noticeable. Another nice doppel from Capital. Beerlando (2313), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Updated: Apr 3, 2008Pours a hazy, glowing orange-amber color. The body looks pretty substantial, almost like a barleywine. A foamy, off-white head quickly dissipates completely, leaving just some soapy sheeting on the glass. The nose is very sweet, with caramel, vanilla, and honey showing strong over faint floral hops. The flavor is again very sweet, almost like a lighter, malty barleywine. Honey plays a big role, wit floral spice tickling the throat a little on the way down. The body is substantial and slightly syrupy, finishing with a lingering, bittersweet character. Definitely an interesting take on the Doppelbock style. I’m glad I tried this, but its not something I would turn to frequently. Drink this as fresh as possible.
