| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 28, 2006 Beer pours a dark honey golden color with a big, mostly dissipating egg white colored head. Aroma is rather intriguing with big bread notes along some fruit aromas. Flavor is initially sweet, like sweet bread. The finish is dry. I had high expectations for this one and it didn’t quite measure up. Beerman6686 (1292), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 13, 2009 This poured a darker blonde color with a large white head. Aroma was sweet german malt, grassy hops, and some alcohol. Flavor was somewhat harsch alcoholic doppelbock, with no roastedness, reminded more of a european strong. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 18, 2009 From a 12oz Bottle. Purchased at Riley’s Wines of the World. Brilliantly clear, honey gold colored body with a two-finger head of fizzy white. Rich, melanoidin-laden malt aroma with notes of raisin, plum, vanilla, and treacle. Exceptionally clean, with a wonderful malt richness. No hop aroma. Medium-full bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a rich, malty texture. Wow, that’s a lot of Munich malt, but in a really good way. Clean and simple, with flavors of honey, vanilla, raisin, and a mild white pepper character from the lingering alcohol warmth. Low hop bitterness. Almost a hint of toast in the finish, but really more of a raisin skin flavor. This beer really showcases the flavor depth possible from a few simple high quality malts without the distraction of hops or yeast esters. JaBier (1261), Capital City, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 2, 2009 Sampled as a precursor to Dogbrick’s Eurostash tasting. Cloudy copper pour with a big off-white head. Malty and caramelly aroma, but doesn’t smell overly sweet. Caramel and sweet malt flavor with a bit of vanilla and nut, but once again not too sweet. They pulled it off! It tastes like a d-bock, but looks nothing like one. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA

Aroma of malt and toffee with sweet malt flavor and bitter finish.
Not bad. Brigadier (1246), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA

Cherry, vanilla, hazelnut and caramel scents presented themselves to my nose upon taking sniffs of this reddish brown brew. A fairly active amount of carbonation created a nice visual when held up to the light. On my first sip, many of these flavors were present with the addition of cocoa powder. Later, there were hints of orange peels and honey, Overall, it was a fairly balanced first impression that came undone as it settled. By the time the flavors stop evolving it leaves a slightly cloying feel in the back of mouth. Still, this is a smooth, easy to drink creation that is well worth trying. nuplastikk (1218), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 25, 2009 12oz bottle. Hazy, translucent brown-orange. Frothy head, that fades away after a few minutes. Big, rich, and malty. This is a pretty well done, would hold it’s own in Bavaria..well maybe. Big sweet malt is well balanced by some soapy hops. Full bodied enough to let you know its strong, but never harsh. Interesting fruity pungency. OK. Hopistotle420 (1178), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 31, 2004 Copper/orange amber. Turbid carbonation, sweet malty nose, peppery alcohol. Small off white cap. Sweet, chewy malts, pears, white pepper, estery, slightly cloying, slightly lacking in character. Nothing spectacular here, but a fun rendition of a Doppel.
