Aroma of light and dark malts, with some dark fruit as well. Taste includes a lot of rich malts, with some biscuit and caramel. Creamy, almost oily mouthfeel. A solid beer that is very drinkable at the same time. porterhouse (1162), Alna, Maine, USA

This was a clear light, very slightly reddish-tinted orange, with a thin off-white head that disappears to a film. Aroma of bread, honey and malt. Scant lacing. Mouthfeel smooth, light, a little syrupy as well as prickly. Taste is moderately sweet, honeyish, lightly malty, touch of bitter in finish. No alcohol apparency. On the light side for a doppel. Has an easy and pleasant feel. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA

Poured an effervescent golden with a semi-creamy off-white head that stayed on the beer. Light aroma of grapes, syrup, and a touch of grassy hops, not unlike other paler lagers. Taste is rather sweet and rich. Grapes and honey dominate. Very little hop presence and a semi-sweet finish, less dry than the dark it seems, and perhaps a tad more drinkable. Alcohol well hidden. Rich yet refreshing. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 2, 2003 A wooden orange color with amedium white head. Aroma of oak, sweet caramel, alcohol. A sweet light toffee taste. A light body with a heavy feel. This taste better and smoother as you get to the end of the glass. I had this a number of years ago and am glad my memory did not disappoint. An excellent example of an unusual style. Can not tell it is 9%. gws57 (1144), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA

Cloudy, dark golden pour with a light nose of spice and nutmeg, bitter but malty, complex finish. DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 20, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Amber pour with a medium yellowish white head that recedes quickly. Lots of malt aromas with caramel first and foremost. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel complements the medium/full body and light carbonation. Flavor mirrors the aroma with a large dose of sweet malty goodness, even some roasted flavors, and finally a hit of spicy hops right at the finish. Alcohol is understated. A pretty good doppelbock. kyzr (1127), Belgrade, Montana, USA

Flavor is sweet, yet well balanced with a burn of alcohol and hint of hops. Full flavored and well rounded ale. Thanks to Skyview for this pour. NobleSquirrel (1120), Chicago, Illinois, USA
