12 oz bottle, via Styles. Pours a hazy gold/light copper with a minimal white head that faded quickly. Caramel malt aroma with some graininess and light alcohol. Rather sweet flavor with caramel and toffee characteristics, long sweet finish with some alcohol warmth. Medium to full bodied, syrupy and sticky with moderate carbonation. Decent beer, but a little too sweet and cloying for me. Gets a little tiring on the palate by the end of the bottle.

Amber Coloring. Very smooth and easy to drink given the alcohol rating. Definitly worth trying.

Bottle: Vibrant golden, translucent, small off-white frothy head, soft carbonation, spotty lacing.   Bready/malty aroma, also slightly grainy.   Much the same on the tongue.   Fairly sweet, somewhat viscous, with a touch of alcohol on the finish.   Fairly simple overall, but quite clean and easy to quaffe.

This brew pours with an orange amber body topped by a thin white head with little lacing left behind. The aroma is sweet and malty with notes of caramel/toffee and a touch of fruit. The flavor is sweet and fruity (apple?) with notes of caramel. The finish is rather crisp and clean. Medium bodied and smooth.

Pours a hazy, glowing orange-amber color. The body looks pretty substantial, almost like a barleywine. A foamy, off-white head quickly dissipates completely, leaving just some soapy sheeting on the glass. The nose is very sweet, with caramel, vanilla, and honey showing strong over faint floral hops. The flavor is again very sweet, almost like a lighter, malty barleywine. Honey plays a big role, wit floral spice tickling the throat a little on the way down. The body is substantial and slightly syrupy, finishing with a lingering, bittersweet character. Definitely an interesting take on the Doppelbock style. I’m glad I tried this, but its not something I would turn to frequently. Drink this as fresh as possible.

on tap. pours hazy golden with not much head. aroma ia sweet sugary, caramel. flavors are rather sweet, clean and straight forward. makes me think this is what a tripel would taste like with lager yeast. what’s the point of a blonde doppelbock without at least noticable noble hop presence.

6/04/2007: Perfect pour into my Avinger Celebrator Doppelbock glass... Capital Blonde Doppelbock is deep golden yellow, almost shiny copper, but not quite amber in color with a dense, foamy, and lasting off-white head. It appears to be lightly carbonated with larbe bubbles that race quickly to the surface. The aroma is mildly sweet with pale, toasted grain, some fruitiness, and a suggestion of alcohol. The flavor is strong and malty with lots of pale malt flavor and hints of honey, but it isn’t thick or heavy at all. Nor is it overly sweet. There is a very mild amount of floral hop bitterness just before the finish. Very good and very well balanced. The body of this beer is medium and is quite smooth. Wow! This is probably the lightest, easiest to drink Doppelbock that I have ever experienced. Quite unique overall as far as Doppelbocks go...

12 oz bottle via trade with buckybeer. Thanks again Mark!
