Aroma is sweet, a bit fruity, and fierce: alcohol, though not major, is still sitting tall on top and evident in the nose.
Taste: BAM! Shammalamma, boom! Sh-bam! Tiny hops, Big, muth*&^%in’ malt all up in y’alls mouth! Mouth-filling texture, though overall the body is light. It’s just that big, fat flavor, tasty, lip-smackin’, delicious. Big, wonderful flavor stands out always, rings through the senses, congratulates you for consuming it.
If you’re craving a beer from Wisconsin, this had better be the one. We’ll be screening any excuses for other options, but it’s a strict judge and jury. Really, this is the stuff!

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 17, 2002 Pours with an attractive rocky, dense, and creamy foam with great cling and stay. Looks like an English IPA, with its light amber hue. The aroma is surprisingly hoppy, which exudes pepper and a light fruitiness. Exhibits the mark of some Triples with its phenolic notes, as well. Mouthfeel is moderately full. Alcoholic fullness quickly comes into play before a long dry, yeast, and malt finish. Slightly cloying, which takes away points. cheapdark (2050), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Apr 3, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pleasant yeasty aroma, diminutively volatile to the nose once in the glass. Slightly darker than pale yellow with no visible CO2. Good fizz on the palate however. Taste is rather medicinal in nature, orange alky @ times. Finish is medium lingering bite. Certainly is 8%. Creamy head of off-white over a medium yellow/amber body.
Light bready malt aroma with just a touch of hops.
Smooth, easy drinking. Could be a bit more robust to get a higher rating from me. Indra (2040), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 21, 2002 Some sweetness in the malty aroma. Brilliant clear golden amber color. Some carbonation is there, but head is a mere ring around the edge of the glass. This is what I would term a doppel-maibock. The light, almost corn-syrup sweetness of the malt is blended toward the end of the profile with some green-tasting hops. Finish has some effervescence and more sweetness. Caramel and Cara-Pils malts extremely evident here. Lots of unfermented sugars. All in all, not a bad brew, a little bit different. Better than the Weizenbock, definitely. Style fits the season which it is released in.
