| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 29, 2009 Bronzed, well-carbonated beer feeding a crisp cream top. Feint malt and grains reach the nose. Light, sweet malt flavor. Somewhat reminiscent of a European Strong Lager. Alcohol is somewhat masked behind some corn-syrup sweetness. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 30, 2003 Very nice. Auburn-gold, ridiculously light for anything dopplebockish. Nose is malty and a bit sour with subtle hints of cocoa. Is expectedly lighter in the flavor and palate than most dopplebocks, but far from thin, has a nice, chewy palate on it. Malts are caramel sweet with very faint chocolate hints for heft. Cannot believe the abv is correct here, simply too quaffable. Excellent, excellent stuff. tronraner (1938), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 13, 2006 12 oz bottle. Pours a copper-tinged gold with white head. The aroma is very grainy with an interesting sweet floral wisp, some caramel, and flat grassy hops. The flavor is much maltier than I expected from the appearance, a pleasant surprise, really. There is a prominent sugary sweetness in the grainy malts, underneath which is lawn-clippings. The finish is earthy with caramel, alcohol, and a faint spiciness that reminds me of sage. The aftertaste is dry and alcoholic. It gets a little acidic as I make my way down the glass, but is still rather drinkable.
