| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 3, 2005 12oz bottle Not sure what a "blonde doppelbock" is, but what we have here is a clear amber beer with a thin white head that fairly quickly recedes to the rim. Aroma of sweet malt, alcohol, and some fruit. Flavor of light caramel, deeply sweet malt, some alcohol, and a slight hint of dry-toasted grain. Medium-full body, slightly thick palate. More of a "doppelmarzen" than a doppelbock; loses a few overall points for not being to doppelbock style in color and flavor. But make no mistake, this is a rich, enjoyable beer. Grab a sixer of this limited release whenever you can -- definitely worth your while. Skyview (4064), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA

Light aroma of simple sugar syrup, and grassy hops. Taste is sweet and rich. Honey is present with very little hop. It has a a semi-sweet finish. A full body doppebock, without the darkness. Alcohol is a bit high. hombrepalo (779), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Sweet malty aromas. I could detect the alcohol. Nice flavor - sweet with a mild bitterness in the aftertaste. You can taste the alcohol and dark brown sugar with a thin crisp finish. Nice. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Updated: Apr 3, 2008Pours a hazy, glowing orange-amber color. The body looks pretty substantial, almost like a barleywine. A foamy, off-white head quickly dissipates completely, leaving just some soapy sheeting on the glass. The nose is very sweet, with caramel, vanilla, and honey showing strong over faint floral hops. The flavor is again very sweet, almost like a lighter, malty barleywine. Honey plays a big role, wit floral spice tickling the throat a little on the way down. The body is substantial and slightly syrupy, finishing with a lingering, bittersweet character. Definitely an interesting take on the Doppelbock style. I’m glad I tried this, but its not something I would turn to frequently. Drink this as fresh as possible. jarlbartar (88), Janesville, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 27, 2007 Didnt pour a blonde, but more of an amber hue with a medium sized head that left good lacing on the glass. Aroma of fruits and caramel malt. Taste of toffee, but not overly sweet, additional taste of signature Capitol malts and some floral hops. Mouthfeel very light and smooth with a thin viscosity and good carbonation. A very good and complex, rich tasting bock that isnt overpowering in it’s malty tastes - just right. bluemooner (237), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

Also tastes quite malty with slight hints of fruit, apples, honey, raisins, and some vanilla. Quite a mouthfull. Good overall. JaBier (1261), Capital City, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 2, 2009 Sampled as a precursor to Dogbrick’s Eurostash tasting. Cloudy copper pour with a big off-white head. Malty and caramelly aroma, but doesn’t smell overly sweet. Caramel and sweet malt flavor with a bit of vanilla and nut, but once again not too sweet. They pulled it off! It tastes like a d-bock, but looks nothing like one.
