Amber hue with small white head, some lacing, medium to full-bodied. Aroma has caramel and slighty chocolate sweetness, spicy and fruity hop tones, phenolic notes. I agree that this beer has an almost belgian-like quality to it. Spice and sweet taste, the alcohol is detected, but not overbearing. Warming and smooth. A minor bitter bite on the the finish to help the balance. Mouthfeel is fizzy and somewhat creamy. A unique beer, not for everyday drinking however.

Bottle: Vibrant golden, translucent, small off-white frothy head, soft carbonation, spotty lacing.   Bready/malty aroma, also slightly grainy.   Much the same on the tongue.   Fairly sweet, somewhat viscous, with a touch of alcohol on the finish.   Fairly simple overall, but quite clean and easy to quaffe.

Thanks to ughsmash for this one! Creamy head of off-white over a medium yellow/amber body. Light bready malt aroma with just a touch of hops. Smooth, easy drinking. Could be a bit more robust to get a higher rating from me.

Pours a clear golden orange color with a medium white head. Aroma of honey, wheat and faint floral malt hops. Taste is hinting on floral with a honey and barley presence. A light malty backbone. Nothing special here.

Golden appearance. Small filmy head. Nice spicy aroma. Surprised by the sweetness. Really surprised when I saw the 8% ABV!! Never would have thought it although I definitely felt it a few minutes later. Just a bit too sweet for me. But I think this would be a favorite for a doppelbock fan.

Looking and tasting of honey, this beer is the James Brown of the Capital line. It’s pure funk. Take it as you will, good or bad, it’s still funky. A very fresh aroma though, so you could call this one funky-fresh. A delicate blend of sweet and bitter, light and heavy, this beer prominently features its nutty overtones with hints of cloves. Perhaps too cluttered with different tastes? One notable point is that for 8% apv, there is no strong feeling of alcohol.

Bottled. Poured a clear, bright, medium golden with a short cap of dense white head. Nose was of toasty caramel and dark fruity malts, corn husk, and a faint hint of soap... overall rather weak for an 8% doppelbock. Flavor was deeper and richer with plenty of caramel, toffee, and cereal maltage.. plus a woodsy/leafy hop presence. Sweet malty become mildly cloying toward the back as this warmed.. smooth yet grainy across the middle. Alcohol provides power and warmth without getting in the way. Solid stuff overall.
