Strong molasses/brown sugar aroma.
The smell comes through in the taste. Rich body with a relatively low carbonation level. Nearly no hop--on the sweet side (even for the style). Not crisp--round, like an ale. JohnnyOS (646), Golden, Wisconsin, USA

Aroma is purely malt and a sweet scent. Flavor is sweet with a light spiciness, then malt all over. No real hops and a light warming from the etoh. 17thfloor (1499), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Despite the look, it still has a malty doppelbock aroma, also some candied malt in there too. Sweet candied pale malt, sugary apple/honey flavor. Lightly hopped. Chewy caramel with an alcohol finish, hot. Creamy and sticky body. Strange brew, very sweet. BustedFlat (554), Edina, Minnesota, USA

sweet smelling... pale malt, grass, yeasty earthiness and red apples.
the flavor is surprisingly yeasty.... sweet...really sweet graininess, apples, faint citrus, grass, wet straw and a mildly bitter finish. a bit too sweet without a balance.
medium bodied. it is a bit slick and creamy on the tongue. 6/3/6/4/13/3.2 after4ever (2805), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 29, 2009 12-oz. Pours bright medium coppery amber. Platinum blonde, nice and creamy and dense, and really sticks around. Loose stringy lace. Aluminum, CO2, and a bit of sour wet grass on the nose. Creamy medium body with tons of sparkling carb. A little over-sweet, kind of a sweet and sour thing happening on the mid-palate. Lots of caramel, dark old leaves, some butterscotch on the mid-palate. Not quite coherent, and a bit too sweet. Cherry, vanilla, hazelnut and caramel scents presented themselves to my nose upon taking sniffs of this reddish brown brew. A fairly active amount of carbonation created a nice visual when held up to the light. On my first sip, many of these flavors were present with the addition of cocoa powder. Later, there were hints of orange peels and honey, Overall, it was a fairly balanced first impression that came undone as it settled. By the time the flavors stop evolving it leaves a slightly cloying feel in the back of mouth. Still, this is a smooth, easy to drink creation that is well worth trying.
