Some carbonation is there, but head is a mere ring around the edge of the glass. This is what I would term a doppel-maibock. The light, almost corn-syrup sweetness of the malt is blended toward the end of the profile with some green-tasting hops. Finish has some effervescence and more sweetness. Caramel and Cara-Pils malts extremely evident here. Lots of unfermented sugars. All in all, not a bad brew, a little bit different. Better than the Weizenbock, definitely. Style fits the season which it is released in. kp (8399), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 5, 2006 12 oz bottle. Pours with a big head and an aroma of grain and corn. Nice and hoppy but also bland in the malt and very uninspiring. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 29, 2003 This brew pours a small head of fine white bubbles and a transparent light orange brown body. It had a mild malt aroma. This brew had a smooth initial flavor and no fore or after bite. I did not understand this brew and I would definately not call it a Doppelbock. Strong notes of malt with some toffee characters. Not a lot of hops but everything was pretty well blended. Decent brew. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 19, 2009 Decent light doppelbock, doughy malts, big bodied staying on the sweeter side. Felt a bit flat which emphasized the heaviness to it and sweetness of it. Pours deep gold, good clarity, with a thin white head.
