ross (1492), charlotte, North Carolina, USA May 14, 2008 Bottle from Ryan. Pours out a yellowish - orange color with a nice white head on it. Smell is malty, fruity, has some alcohol in it. Smells alot like their other doppelbock, just not dark colored. Taste is smooth and rich, with no alcohol detected. Easy drinking and sweet. Paired pretty good with steak. I would drink it again, it seemingly disappeared...
guyinchicago (188), usa, Illinois, USA Jun 21, 2008 amber in color with nice head that never stops with fizzing like a tornado coming from bottom of glass, very clean filtered aromas of malts and hops malts are not roasted i guess to keep this a blonde tasteis of malts and alcohol a very nice american brew notalush (1946), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York, USA Jun 13, 2008 My bottle says "platinum blonde doppelbock," but I assume it’s the same beer - clear, fizzy, honey-colored beer - fairly sweet aroma, with some light herbal character and a european hop bite underneath - honey flavor up front - a little too sweet - medium herbal and hop bitterness in the middle - the sweetness becomes prominent again in the finish, and a grainy flavor comes in - the alcohol is apparent at the end, but just enough to be warming - decent. Jabswitch (171), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jun 11, 2008 Golden appearance. Small filmy head. Nice spicy aroma. Surprised by the sweetness. Really surprised when I saw the 8% ABV!! Never would have thought it although I definitely felt it a few minutes later. Just a bit too sweet for me. But I think this would be a favorite for a doppelbock fan. WallyWalrus (157), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jun 7, 2008 12oz bottle (and #150!). Pours a crystal clear amber with a thin off-white head and good effervescence. Aroma is light, with a strong malt backbone supported by grain, spice, and a slight bit of hops. Taste is creamy and sweet, with an initial flavor of honey and spices giving way to a long malty finish (and an oh-so-slight hint of warming alcohol). Another great brew from Capital -- what it lacks in complexity it makes up for in execution and sheer drinkability. Rciesla (674), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Jun 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours a light amber golden body with a thin off white head. Aroma is purely malt and a sweet scent. Flavor is sweet with a light spiciness, then malt all over. No real hops and a light warming from the etoh.
