Commercial Description:
This brown ale has a deep brown tone and an exceptionally creamy head which is derived from imported crystal malts. The crystal malts are also responsible for a rich, nutty flavor. Mild hop presence from imported Fuggles and Brewers Gold balance the unique malt combination

From my tasting notes at an "earlier" date. On tap @ Old Chicago. Pours a clear copper brown with a tiny eggshell head. Aroma of toffee and nuts, slightly earthy hops. Taste is the same with the addition of some peach? Some light tang is also noted. Light body, light to moderate carbonation.

Sampled at Capital Brewery in Middleton, WI. Dark pecan in color with a thin white head. Roasty malt aroma, rather bland. Slightly cardboardy flavor. Rather blah.

Bottle from buckybeer; Thanks! Nose is sweet and nutty, brown with a shortlived tan head; flavor of caramelly malt with nuttiness and light coffee notes.

12 oz bottle. Decent nutty and sweet malt aroma. Body lokked more like tea brown but held to light a good looking amber body with thin off white head. Thin body but there was plenty of flavor. Light nut, coffee, sweet malt, light bitterness and finishes with some chocolate. One of the best I’ve had from this brewery.

Pours a three finger cream head that goes slowly leaving a little lace. Almost clear amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Malty nose. Starts malty, nutty but hops are balancing, smooth, clean finish. Nice brown. $1.79 for a 12oz bottle from John’s Grocery Iowa City, IA.

12 oz. bottle. a very enjoyable brown. commercial description is dead on with a rich creamy head and a mild nut flavor. would make for a good session beer.

Pours a very thin iced-tea brown with nothing of a white head on top. Aroma finds yeasty lemon and pale malt with licorice. Flavor is rather weak with caramel notes and anise, but the underlying impression is that of sugared "small beer" bitters. Despite (or possibly because of) it’s timid persona, this is a sessionable brown that kind of grew on me.

Tap at the brewery beer garden. No head at all. Clear reddish, brown body from what I can tell. Served in a plastic cup. Nice color but the head is disappointing. Appearance takes a hit for that. I went back to the bar to see if they could pour me another one, thinking that it may have been one of the first Browns served on the day. The second pour had only slightly more head; from no head to a slight wisp. The mouthfeel was undercarbonated. Maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to be. If the brewery itself can’t serve it right, then who will? Bartender said it’s always like this. Pretty well balanced. has a hop profile. Some banana when it warms, although to my knowledge, this is unintended. Has a little dunkel weiss thing going on. Too soft and not assertive enough.
