| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 25, 2006 I’ve been on a hunt for a good brown ale lately, but this one is only average. It pours like iced tea from the bottle. Little, if any, head and lacing. Aroma doesn’t come out and grab you, in fact when I put my nose to the glass, I don’t smell much except a hint of malt. The flavor is weak, but a little sweet. The body is only medium. Average drinkability. What I like in a brown ale is a definite, robust aroma, full body and lots of flavor. That’s not too much to ask, is it? DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 11, 2005 (12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with hopdog, thanks Steve!) Toasty and caramely brown ale with a relatively moderate hop bitterness, certainly moreso than many others in the class, but that’s not saying this is a hoppy brown ale, it’s all relative here. Moderately sweet, plus some modest chocolate as the beer warms up, but overall, this isn’t exactly packing a lot of flavor. The mildly aromatic nose shows a bit of caramely maltiness, but I have to struggle to get much out of it. Medium bodied and gently carbonated for a soft, easy mouthfeel. Not as dark as most brown ales, this one is light brown in color with a slight haziness to it. The half inch tall off-white head takes its time settling to a wide ring, but leaves no lacing behind. Overall, it has a nice taste, but nothing to write home about. MIBRomeo (1966), Wisconsin, USA

Lightly toasted grain flavor with light sweet malt, medium hop bitterness and a touch of fruit tones. Nice medium body and smooth palate. A fine British ale from a brewer of primarily German lagers. hopdog (5627), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 18, 2005 A respectable brown...with a distinct nutty/caramel malt base...maple syrup notes and coffee as well. Nicely hopped with a brisk and bitter finish. Like all their beers, very well done. twindadplus2 (417), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 31, 2005 Pours a dark mahogany with a creamy medium sized head that dissipates quickly but never goes away completely. Aroma is nutty with lots of roasted malt and a lingering sweetness in the back. Flavor is lots of roasted malt, nuts and a bit of chocolate with a touch of spicy hops rounding it out. A long, smooth, roasted finish wraps it up nicely.
