It had the best aroma (slightly nutty) and came with a cloudy, cumulus-like head. The flavor wasn’t nutty, but was full and flavorful (though not heavy). One of my favorite browns. cssprain (16), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 4, 2002 Good strong caramelly malt with bitter undertones of nutshells and hops. It’s pretty carbonated and if you sip it right away the harsher, biterer tones stand in the rough texture. But as it warms, mellows, and settles, it turns positively rich and the bitter accents fade behind a creamier, exquite round maltiness. Might be more alt-like w/ Hallertauer or Tettenger instead of the Fuggles and Brewers, but it’s a good German ale nonetheless. Nutty, as everyone mentions, creamy, and rich. Body lokked more like tea brown but held to light a good looking amber body with thin off white head. Thin body but there was plenty of flavor. Light nut, coffee, sweet malt, light bitterness and finishes with some chocolate. One of the best I’ve had from this brewery.
