Pours a clear dark cola brown brew with a creamy beige head that has some nice retention and spotty lacing. When served cold, allow this to warm up a little. Aroma of toasted caramel malt, a touch of brown sugar, toffee and some alcohol. Taste is full bodied, light carbonated with flavors of roasted caramel malt, roasted nuts, dark pitted fruits, a hint of raisins and plenty of alcohol. Finish has a high alcohol warmth that hides most of the aftertaste, plus a semi-dry character. Surprisedly different than the former Dark Doppelbock Capital brewed over two years ago, but definitely higher in alcohol. badgerben (3600), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 2, 2009 Growler courtesy of Skyview. Very dark red color with no head. Caramel aroma. More caramel flavor, lightly roasted malts. A bit of a soy sauce character, but not in an incredibly detrimental way. JK (2955), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

Not as great as I hoped, Autumnal Fire is better most years. A little sweet. Caramel malt. Brown color and almost no carbonation. Easily recognizable as a bock. Anyway, I had this big hearty beer on tap at the Malt House in Madison. Pours a dark dark brown colour with a fairly large tan head. Aroma is slightly raisiny, dates and fig on the nose. Subtle oak, caramel and toast on the palate. Taste is rather flavourful actually. Firm and astringent, but super smooth. Creamy with noticeable alcohol notes throughout. nice beer! holdenn (1443), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 17, 2009 On tap at the maproom. Pours red brown with a beige head. Malty chocolate nose with nothing special, a touch of frut. Creamy smooth milk chocolate flavors with a touch of roast and a lot of residual sweetness. This becomes sweeter and sweeter and tougher to drink a small pour. In dire need of some roast or bitterness to cut through this chocolate milk beer. IlanMan (818), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA
