Thanks goes to Brewfiend for picking up a bottle at Coffee Grounds in Eau Claire, WI. This brew pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a fast dissolving white head. Leaves behind a fine film and good lacing. Aroma is sweet with some scent of bread dough, black pepper, sour pineapple and a touch of banana. Taste is smooth, lightly carbonated and a sweet aftertaste. This brew is very tasty except it does not taste like a wheat or weissen. No real wheat flavor or even a whiff of yeast. This brew is more like a sweet kölsch than a wheat beer. I wonder if this beer was mis-labeled?

12 oz bottle. Poured a clear golden color. Head was thin, white, and reduced to a lasting film. Smelled of husky cereal grain, biscuity malt, and vegetable soup. Medium bodied and minimally sweet on the tongue. Tasted of light citrus and subdued buscuity malt. Typical non-offensive American wheat.

Having been to Door county and Washington Isle I had no idea there were wheat fields there, let alone enough to supply a brewery. The beer is fairly average for a wheat beer. A slightly hazy honey color with a small white head. Not much aroma, this might be my predisposition of wheat as apposed to Hefe’s. I have to agree with the Leinenkugel’s Sunset Wheat comparison.

A hazy medium golden with a small white head. Aroma is grains, corn and light malts. Flavor is quite different though. A good amount of citrus, light malts and wheat. A decent refreshing brew.

Cloudy Yellow Color with White Head. Citrusy, Banana and Wheat Notes.. Light Dry Wheat Aftertaste...Overall, the Grainy Malt Notes Stick to the Palate, But Still a Nice Summer Wheat.

(Bottle) Pours a hazy golden color with a decent head. Wheaty notes definitely in the beer. Sweet malty aftertaste, with a bit of honey in there as well. Nothing too complex. A dry, yet refreshing brew.

Hazy lemon-yellow with a large, white head that is mostly diminishing. Nice lacing, leaving coral pattern on the glass. Aroma of wheat and lemon zest. Honey, grains, and lemon with a sweet wheat aftertaste. Highly carbonated, pretty distracting. Can’t believe I found this in a can in Wisconsin!

Island Wheat is decent for a wheat, but it’s not my preferred style. They always seem to leave me with a headache, and Island Wheat thus far has been the worst offender. However, it’s good enough that I put up with some setbacks when I’m looking for an enjoyable beer. The nose is beery (that is, quite malty and grainy). The taste is very light compared to Leinenkugel’s Sunset Wheat. If I didn’t get a headache every time, I would say it’s drinkability is very high. Hardly any aftertaste or filling feeling in the stomach. All in all, it’s ok.
