The bready, yeasty fillingness of this style means it is not one of my favorites. Seems to have less sugar than most which I like. However, it is thin and bland compared top wheat beers. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 8, 2006 Had from the bottle at the CU beer club meeting. Light yellowish copperish in color. No head really. Nose was wheaty, fairly thin with just a bit of orange. Taste was just about the same. Overall drinkable and thin. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA

Pours lightly hazy light orange with a quickly disappering white head. Aromas is light husky wheat and lemony citrus. Medium / light mouthfeel with very light carbonation. Taste has husky smooth malt with and citrus flavor with orange and lemon traits. Citrus becomes more pronounced on the finish and spice comes into play as well. Nice American wheat. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 26, 2006 Cloudy straw color with an average sized white head. Wheat, citrus, some spice, yeast meet the nose. Good mouthfeel. Flavor is wheaty with touches of citrus and a saline hint. Not bad but nothing exceptional. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 20, 2006 Bottle- Pours a slightly hazy golden color. Small almost no white head. Appearance is unremarkable for the most part. Smelling this brew is wheat, almost like a cereal, but of decent quality. Fresh smelling almost. None of the normal spices present in the aroma of this one. Flavor is light and easy to drink. That same cereal wheaty taste comes through buts that about it. Slight sweetness and almost no hops at all. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/20 | Jun 18, 2006 Tap at brewery beer garden. Doesn’t smell wheaty. Actually smells like MGD. Points off the aroma for not being to style. Cloudy orange body with creamy, off-white head and lively carbonation. Nice lace, although tough to see as it was served in a plastic cup. Note to Capital: I appreciate your not wanting people to break glasses on your concrete patio; how about razing the concrete and planting grass you can serve a proper pint in the intended glassware? Bland flavor. This is not a wheat and there’s nothing "island" about it. This is a macro lager with a fancy micro brewer name. A self-respecting craft brewer should not have this beer in its lineup. A sellout. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 30, 2006 From a 12 oz. twist cap long neck brown bottle with no bottled/freshness date. sampled on an unusually hot spring day in Madison, Wisconsin, above 90 degrees.
Made a good appearance, poured a clear pale golden yellow with a foamy white head that settled into a rocky, foamy lacing, minimal amount of sticking, good carbonation.
Had a floral and wheat cracker/biscuity nose with light hints of fruitiness, pretty clean aroma overall.
A malty crisp, smooth light bodied mouth feel, good drinkability.
Floral and fruity taste, followed by a dryish wheat biscuity and a slightly lemony and biscuity finish, a nice simple pale wheat malty taste, light on the palate.
Maybe its the heat, but I really enjoyed this wheat ale from Capital, tasty, refreshing and highly quaffable.
