Aroma is spiced wheat with some sourness as well as some skunk. Flavor has an initial bite of spice mellowing out to a lightly flavored wheat ale with a slightly dry finish. Balanced between bitterness and wheat is good. Could use a little more wheat flavor.

Pours a slightly hazed golden pale with a modest white head. The aroma is lightly sweet, yeasty, wheat, lemon, and some spice. The flavor is light honey, wheat, light and light spice. Creamy texture, very soft mouthfeel.

Pours pale gold, slightly cloudy with a thin whitish head. Aroma is citrus and apricot. Creamy on the palate, its taste is subtle with whispers of pear, muskmelon and wheat. Finish is light with no hoppiness or bitterness. Defintely a summer beer, great for picnics or just summer sippin’ with a light snack or nuts.

12 oz. bottle from the loose rack at Sam’s, Downers Grove. First beer rated at our new home! Light and cloudy yellow, with a pillowy but slightly spongy white head. Smell is malty at first, then offers a nice spicy wheat backing. Very nice American Wheat taste with suggestions of Kölsch: gentle wheat spiciness, hint of lemon refreshing malts suggest pils and a hint of Vienna. Bitter background component to a great summer beer. I see I’ve rated this higher than I did Oberon. Well, the circumstances are different: I’m having this at the end of a long hot day after moving a ton of beer cellar stuff, and I need to stand by my original impressions.

7/15/2008: Island Wheat has a bright, sunny appearance. It is yellow in color, cloudy, generously carbonated, and sports a pillowy head of white foam. The light and refreshing aroma contains lemony citrus, faint wheat malt, a bit of yeast, and definitely some floral hoppiness. The flavor is light and refreshing, but not quite as pronounced as the aroma. Maybe weak is a better way to describe it. It has a minerally water base with some wheaty malt, zesty citrus, and yeastiness on top. Quite drinkable overall, but I was hoping for a bit more umpf behind it...

12 fl. oz can from Mark (buckybeer). Thank you! Rating #104 for this beer...

pours a light white yellow with a huge three finger fluffy white head. aroma is light wheat and a little hops. has a medium body with thick lacing and descent carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma. it is thin on the palate, but creamy as well. has some sediment floating around also. its ok, very session-able.
