I notice most people called it a banna teaste but i would say it has a meaty taste. i am drinking this while typeing JK (2967), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

Taste of lemon is also noticeable. New Glarus does a better wheat, but this is good too. JCW (1262), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 8, 2003 Very cloudy, small head, straw colored. Aroma of fruity, sweetness and spice. It really does have a lemon tange to it, expessionally on the finish. This beer is a fine summer thirst quincher. Cheers. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 3, 2003 Aroma is distinctive, but not much like the "Bavarian Style Hefe Weizen" the bottle purports it to be. In fact, there is a distinct note of something in the nose I can't quite put my finger on. Dark chocolate? Molasses? Whatever it is, it fights with the strong wheat aroma that is typical of a Bavarian Weissbier. And that's another thing; when I was in Germany, you never found anything called "Hefe" or "Weizen". It was simply Weiss Bier. Weizens, I was told, are supposed to be the filtered equivalent of the Weissbier. This beer certainly is not filtered, and does contain the bottom of the bottle yeast that is characteristic of a good Bavarian Weissbier. Otherwise, I found this brew to be on the sour side. GermanBrews76 I believe captured it's essence the best, "like fresh banana bread slathered heavily with salted butter." It grew on me as I drank it, but its fairly dramatic departure from anything I had in Germany made me think that the reason it was in the "make your own six-pack" section of the liquor store was that it was on the aged side. Definitely better as a refreshing summer beer than for my purposes now in Minnesotan winter. Still, not a bad attempt. jskendzel (602), Washington DC, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 27, 2003 Slightly hazy appearance, although not too cloudy, with a light amber color. Clove and banana dominate both the nose and the flavor. The carbonation was quite noticeable. Not as smooth as other examples I've tased. PhillyBeer2112 (2090), Orange Park, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Feb 20, 2003 Updated: Feb 4, 2005Yet another re-rate! This time, rather than from a sixer of unknown age I had this delivered to me directly from the brewery! Hey, its pretty nice. Cloudy darkish yellow. Head a little smaller than you’d like. Aroma: mint, lemon, clove, pepper. Aroma similar, light sweet and banana. Its main flaw is that the finish is thin and watery, leaving a very light, empty aftertaste. A hefe shouldn’t have "heft" but increasing the palate a little here wouldn’t put this beer in danger of being too heavy. Frank (1076), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 24, 2003 The bananna scent hits the second the seal on the bottle is broken. Cloudy orange/yellow appearance. Diminishing head but with tons of carbonation. More bananna notes up front with some hints of cloves and spice. Not as stongly flavored as a German hefewiezen but not at all a standard American-style wheat. A very tasty cross. One of my favorite wheats. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 23, 2003 My first experience with a wheat beer and I have yet to find a better one. I always find myself almost trying to climb into my glass when I smell this beer. Great spice, citrus aroma. Taste is spicy banana. Appearance is cloudy. Excellent beer, as most Capital beers are.
