Initial aroma of berries and spice with sweet malts accents. Light amber in color with lots of carbonation. Medium lacing with soapy white head. Light carbonation on the palate. Very spicy sweet flavors with medium hop finish. Ughsmash (4047), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 11, 2006 Bottled. Poured a clear lighter amber with a medium white head that receded to a splotchy pool... cool white firey effect at the bottom of the glass. Nose was of toasted caramel, darker berries, and more malty sugars. Flavor was of toasty caramel apples (ok.. quite light on the apple there), berries, twigs, and some honey toward the backend. Very smooth and lighter-bodied on the palate... crisp caramel blended well with the berries. Refreshing and quite tasty! muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 28, 2006 12 oz bottle courtesy of DavidP, cellar temperature serving in a La Chouffe tulip. Very clear, glossy amber-gold with a big lasting dollop of creamy white head....fairly simple but beautifully precise aromas of caramalized sugars, vanilla, and a bit of tar....very light, supple body supports a smooth caramelly, smoky/burnt character in the malts, minimal but fresh woody hops and a bit of corn/honey sugar towards the finish, which also becomes faintly bitter and dry. Tingly moderate carbonation and a somewhat watery texture seem appropriate for this refreshing spring seasonal, a world away from the company’s equally excellent hardier bocks. No alcohol apparency. Aromas of sweet caramel malts, and some brown sugar. Flavor is nice malty caramel, grains, brown sugar and some honey. Palate is light and airy but creamy as well. Very drinkable. biermensch (64), USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 12, 2006 Gold appearance, with a thin head, not at all what I expect from a bock. BUT, the flavor is malt, sugar and fruit, very pleasant. Minimal hop balance, but it works. I’m not a fan of the style, and I don’t think that this is representative of the style. With that said, I enjoyed this beer, and look forward to the "Bock Fest" on 2/15 at the brewery. Brigadier (1246), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA

Rerate : Hints of rye, wheat and other grains combined with a hint of caramel and toffee combine to form a sweet bouquet. The body is transparantly amber with some light carbonation and a one-finger head. Once it hit my tongue, there was a nice contract between sour cherries, caramel and earthy grains. The aftertaste remains subdued but more comes out including a wave of toffee and smoke. The complexity is nice while retaining a tight band of related tastes. An excellent session beer which masks it alcoholic content well enough that you could drink a few before noticing it is 6%. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 3, 2005 Slightly hazy amber body with a short-lived soupy head. The aroma is nicely malty. Touch of orange-peel like fruit. The flavor is lightly hoppy and just enough hops to balance the malt with the slightest bitterness. Very quaffable.
