Darker than amber. Hmm, maybe i will say brown sugar malts, as it had a little dark feel, but not too much. Fairly decent i must say. Darkover (1316), Columbus, Ohio, USA

Oddly Smooth taste for a dark beer. Personaly, I’m not a big fan of dark beers but this beer was a quite enjoyable drink. Not too strong in hops, with a slight chocolate coffee aftertaste. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 31, 2005 Pours a beautiful, slightly opaque, light ruby color. Smells like charred grains, but tastes suprisingly lighter. Toast, coffee, toffee, walnuts, and spicy chocolate top the flavor list. Something else is in there, something sweet, but I can’t quite put my finger on it. Extremely fizzy, though the carbonation lasts. Not a huge fan of dunkels, though the taste on this is very deep and warm, a pleasant drink. SpecialSauce (47), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 30, 2005 Pours copper color with thick slightly rocky head, smooth small-celled lacing. Smells of toasted hops and caramel. Velvety smooth, if a bit light in flavor. Caramel and malty notes appear as the beer warms in my glass. The head, though now thin, has lingered until the last drop. Moderately priced and supremely drinkable. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 7, 2005 On tap at the brewery. Rose/brown coloring. Tastes much lighter and smoother than expected. Some sweet caramel nodes and maple characteristics. One of the less spicy, less complex dunkels that I’ve had, but I’m not disappointed with it.
