Not a fan of the style. Better than a brown. Malty, toffee, coffee, some toastiness. Thin, kind of sweet.

Pours a very dark amber with a small white head. Aroma is malty. Flavor is moderatly sweet with a very light bitter finish. I tasted carmel, toffee and some prune. Palate is medium with an almost creamy texture. Very tasty.

Beautiful, just really good stuff. Reddish chocolatey color, rich chocolatey toffee candy aroma. Enticing nose, couldn’t wait to drink it, and I didn’t. Rounded chocolate toffee caramel flavor, exceptionally smooth. Yea, the carbonation was a little low, but the amazing smoothness made up for it. You could almost think this was nitro’d, but of course it isn’t.

Tap at the brewery. Ebony with some cherrywood color, light bronze head. Sweet malt nose that lasts. Malty with some chocolate and jam. Hops are forward, making for a bit of sharpness. Well balanced overall. Very drinkable, very tru to style. Few Americans can do this.

Tasted at Jan. KC Beer Meisters meeting. Amber color. Malty nose, malty flavor, one dimensional beer. Nice mouthfeel. I guess it’s pretty much right on for a Dunkel.

Bottle. Mahogany and dark amber brew with a healthy beige head and good lacing. Aromas of toasted malts and clean noble hops. Sweet maltiness at beginning with clean, dark malt flavors and a dry finish. A little thin for the malt aromas, but not abnormal for a dunkel. Very easy drinker. I like some of this brewers beers better, but this is certainly a good swiller with a meat based meal or sausage and cheese.

Dark amber in colour with a slightly sweet aroma. Flavors are an interplay between sweet malts and bready/cracker-like malts. A nice clean finish from a slightly sweet beer is a remarkable thing. In the back of my mind, I tend to think of dunkels as "mistake beers"... as in:" I tried to make a lager, but used the wrong grains". However, this one tastes "right" somehow. Well done!

A good pizza beer. By itself, to one-dimensional for my taste. If you like Newcastle, and want to feel like you are branching out, try this.
