Aroma has some nuts and roasted malt. Flavor is malty as well, with lightly roasted grain and a dry finish. It is very drinkable. It could use more body but otherwise good. More of a Vienna than a dunkel. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA

Aroma of caramel, Iced tea, and malt. Flavor is sweet, with lots of malt and bitter. Sticky bread taste. Bitter ending. A nice brew. redmosquito (172), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 9, 2004 Nicely carbonated auburn brown colored beer with an off white head. Malty aroma with an estery yeast finish which is almost bock-like. The flavor is nice, roasted malt to toasted bread, with solid bitterness. The beer is creamy smooth and then finishes clean with a little astringency on the tongue. This beer is versatile, I could enjoy it with lunch, at a tailgate, or at the bar. burcusabrews (106), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA

Nice nutty aroma and flavor. Very clean with little hops. Like most Capital beers, it is easy to drink but for a session beer, there are about 100 others I would rather quaff. Appearance: deep, dark, figgy brown color, showing a cherry red around the sides, with a firm, creamy, well-retained head.
Aroma: soft and quiet, but sweet and quite delightful, flavorful, with notes of spices, nuts, cocoa, plums, dark fruits. It’s power, though,is small, it’s stay brief.
Great, brilliant buzz of hops on the palate, which sizzles, then fades. Unfortunately, the body is not strong enough to match up the the sweet, delicious, plummy flavors in the taste, that continues on. Far too thin. In this brew, the flavor’s all up front, and leaves me wanting.
For a dark lager, though, this leads the pack! Fruity, plummy flavor is well-received, but they’ve got to back it up!

A little more flavor than a standard lager, but that’s about the best thing I can say about it. A little sweeter than I prefer for a dark beer. Nice head. Didn’t stick around too long, though.
Not too heavy. Syd (903), Waconia, Minnesota, USA
