Pours a dark clean amber with a medium sized head. Aroma of malts, barley and light spice. Flavor is bitter malts, light hops, and hints of roasted nuts and cocoa. Pretty good.

Sampled at Capital Brewery in Middleton, WI. Red/brown with a medium sized light-brown head. Light roasty malt aroma with mild chocolate malt. Lightly bitter, grainy dry flavor with a dry finish.

Bottle: Reddish brown color with a small white head. Aroma, chocolaty, toasted malts, some coffee. Flavor, sweet, roasted malts, a little thin. Has an earthyness to it. Would like a bit more character, but it’s alright. Easy drinking if nothing else.

12 oz bottle. This is not exactly "dark", it’s actually kind of an amber/light brown color. Smells like a typical german beer, first taste is rather skunky, ala heineken. Actually quite watery. Not bad, but not really my thing.

Light body for a dark larger but not watery. toasty malt with faint toffee/coffee and earthy spice. I like this because is is more bitter and dry than sweet like some other Capital brews I’ve tried. I would happily drink again.

12 oz Bottle. Aroma of barley malt with some sweetness and spices. Brown body with tan head and red hue. Flavor has a medium sweet malt body. At first it was a barley grain malt then near the finish the body thickened. Good smooth med-full bodied brew.

Clear medium brown body that throw up a large long lasting tan head. Rich, clean, malty aroma. Good solid malty sweetness delivered on a medium full body. Well done, I’ll have another of these please.
