Commercial Description:
Without a doubt the finest dark beer brewed in the United States. Styled after a traditional Munchener-Dunkel, Dark is a rich, delicious beer combined with excellent drinkability - a rare combination.

Dark, meaty brown head, smells like a whole lot of dark malts. Flavor is chocolate and caramel that’s well balanced by the hops. not the cleanest finish, but everything else about this beer is excellent.

From a 12 oz. twist cap brown bottle with no bottled/freshness date. Poured a red hued brown with a foamy beige head that settled into a thin sudsy lacing, fair amount of sticking. Aromas of fruity esters, caramel, cocoa powder, floral and subtle spicy hops. Moderate carbonation, a dry, smooth light bodied mouthfeel. Fruity, plum-like, and toasted grains with lightly roasted malts, cocoa with just a touch of caramel, a mild earthy, spicy hoppiness and a dry cooca finish with hints of coffee. Another excellent German style lager from Capital, one of my favorite American breweries.

Bottle: Pours to a copper-red body with a light tan head. Aroma is berries, strawberry, coke, salty grains, with some dry caramel and toffee. Taste is sweet caramel grains, apple, salty fruit, and some plum juice. Very malty and not too sweet overall. Light bodied, medium carbonated.

Bottle... Clear, deep amber ale with a small, frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty aroma with notes of toffee and tropical fruit. Vineous. The flavor is malty, but balanced nicely. Medium-bodied and creamy with lively carbonation. Finishes dry. Thanks to MilkmanDan for providing the sample.

Provided by MilkmanDan. Dark amber with a small off-white head, lasting cover. The aroma is loaded with sweet toffee and golden raisins. The flavor is plums, caramels, fairly light and mildy sweet. Light body, just a touch watery.

Dark brownish copper body. Clear. Lingering creamy off-white head. Sweet, lightly roasted malt aroma with a hint of hop that has a dark breadiness to it. Another hint of chocolate too. Capital-esque. Flavor has light roasted malt, slight slight chocolate and hop. A little fizzy for me. Good average drink.

I had a bottle of this a while ago and it was terriffic. Bought a sixer and this first bottle seems a little off. Aroma had a definite vegetal DMS aroma, taste was just sweet carmelly ,didn’t have that dark Munich malt character of the first one. Tasted better thaen it smelled ,but still a little disappointing
