BeerBelcher (694), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Mar 15, 2008 Bought a single of this at 3 Cellars when I realized that I’d not yet tried quite a few Capital beers. And it was pretty decent but not far above average; there’s a reason there’s not a lot of buzz (for good or bad) about this brewery. Still, I enjoyed it, and if my options were limited I’d be happy to have it again.
This is a good looking beer. Nice deep red color, sparkling body, and good sturdy/sticky head formation in good quantity. Aroma is some light caramel. Flavor is a little sweet (like a sweet sweat flavor, but not unpleasant) up front, followed by some not over-powerin caramel maltiness in the body, and a bit of bitterness at the finish. Nice. Mouthfeel is OK, but just a tick on the watery side. Still, nice.
This is a pretty drinkable and approachable beer that won’t blow your socks off, but is nothing to sneeze at either. I’d have it again.
Rciesla (674), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Jun 2, 2008 Bottle. Better served warmer. Pours a dark brown body with a 1 finger white head. Aroma is musky malt german hops and a sticky etoh. Flavor is smooth roasted malt, and german hops. A light malty flavor trails off. decent. phishpond417 (1110), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Apr 24, 2008 Poured a dark brown colour with a medium sized tan head. Aroma is pleasent, touch of oak, over ripe fruit- apples and jerky? Dark roasted coffee beans, full creamy mouthfeel, well carbonated and a nice long finish. jbuzz (385), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Apr 11, 2008 Capital night at Three Cellars Milwukee.
Rich malt taste and a dry finish with a hint of nuts and toffee. Was very smooth and quite refreshing. Not an over-powering beer esjaygee (599), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Apr 10, 2008 Dark brown with caramel and nutty aroma. Mild caramel and sweet malts with a semi-dry finish. Decently balanced. IlanMan (431), Winona, Minnesota, USA Apr 4, 2008 I think the commercial description on here makes the beer all that more not special. Pour was very dark clear amber with a forced very light tan head. Aroma was of light malt and maybe some hops and slight corn. Taste was a bit better with an average malt bill along with a hint of nuts and toffee. Was very smooth and quite refreshing. Not an over-powering beer at all. Decent but nothing special. Probably won’t purchase again.
