Nose very malty, sweet caramel, bit of roast, some breadiness. Great maltiness in flavor, sweet caramel at first, finishes with a long pull of toffee. Loads of brown sugar as well, really nice. Some more bread and a bit of dark fruit, like a liquid muffin of dunkely joy. Creamy, rich, phenomenal palate. Capital, I like you. lagerman99 (66), USA

Hints of cherry and vanilla. I like! jeffc666 (1895), Fairfax, Virginia, USA

Dark caramel with a smallish light tan head that collapses down into a dense ring that sheets the glass with finely structured lace. The aroma is also lovely, it just screams munich, sweet and earthy dopplebock-esque caramel notes. Flavor-wise things hold together quite well, loads of caramel throughout. Unbaked whole-wheat dough, toffee, syrup, and some earthiness that grounds the whole cavalcade. The palate is outstanding. It is full soft and not at all syrupy. Not at all highly carbonated or prickly. Bitterness and acifity are almost non-existent. Wow a fantastic brew and one of the best that I have tried from Capital, which is high praise as their other beers are quite good. Now Playing: Pelican - Australiasia. Subtle, yet constant carbonation bubbles rising througout the drink. Very fine aroma of roasted chocolate malt, bread, and caramel. Flavor was of nicely roasted malts (chocolate and caramel... with a lesser coffee presence), light alcohol, and some floral hops. Very smooth across the palate (no chalkiness or other hang-ups often found in darks).. and exceptionally easy-drinking. This would make a great session brew. Reddish chocolatey color, rich chocolatey toffee candy aroma. Enticing nose, couldn’t wait to drink it, and I didn’t. Rounded chocolate toffee caramel flavor, exceptionally smooth. Yea, the carbonation was a little low, but the amazing smoothness made up for it. You could almost think this was nitro’d, but of course it isn’t. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA

Light caramel/muted-nut-brown with some light oak tones on the edges. Light beige/dark-eggshell head recedes fairly rapidly to ring. Only lightly filtered. Rich 2-row and munich malt aroma is immediately perceived. Dark, rich, soily black earth, with some light vinous notes. Flavor has a fantastic amount of malt. Caramel, brown bread dough. Rich dark sugar and caramelized honey. Rich English toffee. But through all of the richness, it is horribly drinkable! Lightly yeasty, dry earthy notes on end. Low hops bitterness and flavor. Natural mouthfeel with low carbonation, very aerated texture. I could definitely stand to drink this as my session beer day in and day out. Bits of berry skins linger with some leafy, foresty hops flavor. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA
